LOL! You use a compterized system based on "POINTS". You even give more "POINTS" for UFC fighters...which means that some fighters are ranked above the guys (who just beat them), because they had more "POINTS".

I really like your rankings as I mentioned on your LW Rankings Thread. I am pissed at Fight Matrix because their Site has very extensive and up to the day Rankings but are so flawed.
Like you I also think the UFC LW's for example are a deep division with excellent fighters but nearly all are up and coming whereas the LW's outside the UFC are more established and many of them have actually beaten top ten competition unlike the UFC LW's. Consequently other than BJ how can you possibly have any other UFC LW in the top ten in that weight class?! Fight Matrix did this very same thing with Swick at WW putting him in at 7! Don't get me wrong both Kenny and Swick are excellent up and coming fighters but neither have done anything to warrant a top ten ranking. Your Rankings take in consideration the actual results of the matches and who you actually beat (top ten foe or not) and if their is a fluke involved that is factored in like Kenny's win over Din who freakishly from his own doing blew out his knee making that value win by Kenny less, but not in Fight Matrix's eyes.
The biggest problem is Fight Matrix have received so much input from Whistleblower, Smac, you and me and they will not listen. Many of the points you made the other day others and myself have made on other Threads to no avail. Oleg stated himself he is very stubborn which is frustrating because they could have the best Rankings Site on the Net if they listened and made the necessary adjustments.

Miller has fought way tougher opponents than Melendez, Aoki, and Alvarez. I'm not saying he should be ranked above them but you could easily make the case. Melendez hasn't fought anybody except an overrated Aoki, Aoki looks great fighting a bunch of undersized Japanese lightweights with not take down defense, and Eddie Alvarez needs to step up his competition too.
Yes but, that's like saying UFC fighters should be ranked higher just because they're UFC fighters.
If you're talking about "Rating", then yes, your reasoning makes perfect sense.
But when you're talking about World Contender RANKINGS...they need to be earned. And truth of the matter is, those "little Japanese guys with no TD defense", have been at this game (at LW & below), a lot longer than the UFC.
Shooto has been around since 1985, and started having professional events in 1989. i started keeping rankings in 1998. So the first guys ranked were of course those who were at the top at that time. This is where most of the UG members fail. They do not think about the linear record of who-beat-who, since these rankings have been kept. But there is no better system than this for tracking who deserves to be on top.
Oleg's system works for him...but that's a RATINGS system...and not a true contender rankings system.
That's why the people who appreciate my system are the ones who are respectable, and understand MMA...as they believe in researching records and basing a ranking on what the fighter has actually accomplished...and not just on talent, skill, toughness, or being in the UFC.
Gil was fighting top LW's, and was already ranked, long before Miller came on the scene. You don't just throw him to the side because Miller is all of a sudden winning a lot of tough fights. He has to beat the top guys, above him, to get ranked above them. He has to earn it.
Which he obviously is on the path of doing.
Does that not make sense?
