I read so much arguing over who the goat is, how about who was the worst champion of a major org? Id say major org would either be UFC or Pride as the rest weren't around long enough as one of the premier promotions. So please lets try to not argue about which promotions should be included. Lets also leave GP/tourney winners out unless it made them the belt holder for that weight class. Not that I would think anyone who won a GP or old school tournament would be classified as the worst champion.
As much of a fan I am of his, im gonna say Dave Menne.
Remember people, being the worst champion doesn't mean they sucked or weren't any good. They were champions for a reason. Just means of the champions they were the lowest of an elite group.
So who do you think and why?

Why I chose menne was because he didn't defend his title (if my memory is correct) then pretty much dropped out of the top tier. Just never was close to getting said title back.

Please post why. Try to keep it skill wise, defenses, who they beat to get it. Things like that. Not who dud you like the least. Well I guess post both, who you thought was the worst with said criteria and who you liked the least. Just be sure to post why for both.
I liked Tim Sylvia the least. The guy just seemed too arrogant and had some pretty boring fights. Granted boring fights not all his fault but still didn't lime him.

You can make a case for anyone who didn't defend their title except Serra, Forrest, Rashad, and Shogun -- and that's only because of the talented people who defeated them, which is no shame IMO.

For me, the worst champion was BJ Penn. After the dismantling of the UFC LW division, he moved up to WW and beat what many considered to be the most dominant fighter in MMA at the time in Matt Hughes, then did absolutely nothing with it, didn't even defend it once, then breached his contract to sign with another organization. When the UFC stripped him of his title for breach of contract, he sued them and tried to block them from awarding the title to someone else.
Just the kind of champion you want in your organization.

I would also like to mention Overeem. Not because of skill or talent but because of how infrequently he defended his Strikeforce belt. I felt bad for those fighters working their way into contention only to not have the opportunity to attain their dreams.
wouldn't Arlovski have to be considered worse than Sylvia? Since Sylvia beat him 2 outta 3. Im no trying to say Arlovski was the worst but Sylvia has to automatically be considered better than him
I said Forrest because he was given a gift decision to win the title(theres no way he did enough to take the title from the champion),then promptly got rubbed out in his first defense. Not to mention hasn't shown much of anything since then to make me think he is or ever was a true contender.
