So I got up to piss and now I cant sleep. Somehow I was reminded of the show I went to on saturday night and thought Id share my nuggets with the rest of you hippies:
So Ive been to like, I wanna say, close to 100 MMA shows. This includes the 20+ fights Ive had and cornerman work, Judging, etc...
Saturday night I had the pleasure of going to the Gladiator Elite Pro/Am show in Warsaw IN. I was there to corner and work about 4 of our guys from Bloomington, IN. The venue was as sweet as it could be for a show that size. The promoter really took care of everyone, the fighters were excited to perform, and I might add my GF's 34-DD's were lookin particularly dope.
So we got off to a rocky start when our first fighter got TKO'd by way early stoppage(IMO) by the ref. OK my guy was pissed off but I let him cool down and told him that, if your in the game long enough youll get your share of bad calls. It didnt help that his opponent was a thug-life cocky piece of shit that I was close to snapping on...
Our second fighter Blake Guingrich had won blue belt div. at C-3 and then took 2nd in absolute. He shows up (yes the SAME DAY) chokes his opponent out VIA triangle in the 2nd round. I think the kid was unconsious before Blake raped him with a Kimura combo on the side as well. BTW LOOK OUT FOR BLAKE GUINGRICH 9-0 AMMY ALL BY SUBMISSION!!!
and then the shit starts...
We are now up for the last 2 fights of the night. Daniel Farmer (now 4-0) KTFO's the hometown boy, in pure dominating performance, with 2 HUGE knees to the face... Wandy would be proud... He jumps on his dude as he goes down and the ref stops the fight. The crowd freaks out after seeing their boy go spaghetti-noodle and start throwin shit, beers and whatnot... A guy in front of me throws his beer at Farmer, which under normal circumstances would get him a VIP ticket to the Bootparty, and I gladly opt to point him out to the sheriffs working security.
They get things settled down and were up again for the main event 170# Welterweight pro title fight. At this point the hometown is not real excited to see us again and they let us know as we got boo'd and shit-talked all the way to the cage. My guy Luke Taylor (8-2 ammy 1-0 Pro) wins a decision by 1 point in a fight where he won standup and subs on the ground, his opponent only had takedown but was on top the whole fight (and gassed the fuck out...). And we get boo'd again, the crowd want to fight us, people are talking MAD shit directly to us. And of course me being the scholar and gentleman I am, I invite the showers of beer and anyone to come take the belt. The promoter and sheriffs wouldnt let us leave the cage till the place cleared out and we had to be escorted to the car by the cops.

fightfest show in canton ohio........the crowd was quiet as to ammy's are working on the ground in a prelim contest. Pretty boring lay an pray bad ground an pound...but just as crowd goes silent..
a giant hillbilly with overalls gets up holding two 24oz beers in his hands an yells " Hay.get off the ground quit kissing an fight..u faggots" it was pretty funny an the crowd laughed..............not a bad experince just a funny one.
Amatuer show in Portland (Rumble at the Roseland...Chael Sonnens promotion) and the venue it's at has a balcony around three sides of the room which are close to the cage. Pretty cool setup since if you're in the balcony towards the front you're about 40 feet from the cage with a VERY good line of sight.
Anyways I was in the balcony with some friends and these two WW's have just about the best amateur fight I've ever seen....striking, groundwork, very high pace the guys didn't start to gas until the last couple mintues which was impressive since they were so active the whole fight.
Anyways one of the guys has a large group of supporters in the balcony opposite where we are...about 12 or so guys....frat lookin' dudes.
Bell sounds and the whole place is cheering loudly cause it was a good fight. Those dudes start chanting their buddies name which is fine and all. They announce that the other dude won a split decision (and it was a close one...either guy coulda had it IMO).
Those guys go from cheering to booing loudly and as the winner goes towards walks towards his cornermen on that side of the cage about 4 of the frat dudes lob their beers on him drenching him.
Cornermen were going nuts, guys got ejected....IMO they should have been made to get in the cage with the winners teammates.
A real shitty situation made extra bad since the two fighters had SUCH a good fight. I'm hoping the guy that lost punched his friends when they got home for acting like such dickwads.

i've actually only had good crowd experiences. though once in a fight in indiana, they announced me from michigan and the booooo'd since this was right after the whole artest fight.
Any time a Rees fights in Indianapolis =P
Ummm...most mma crowds seem to be the same, you got the hoochies, the nerdy fans, the middle aged guys there to pump out the last of their fleeting testosterone, fat drunk, and the tapout toughguy tards.
Typically you will be sitting next to one of the nerdy fans as they explain every move in depth and often incorrectly to a more newbish nerd or nerd girl sitting next to them. They are apparently the mma pro in their group of friends.
The tapout toughguys walk around in tight shirts trying to look tough with that "I've purchased tickets to a cage fight, I am badass, don't mess with me" look on their face.
The fat drunks are yelling out, Stand em up! stayyyynd themm upppp! Fuckin pussies! Kick his ass Sea Bass!
And the hoochies just walk around and do what they do.
All about the same, the only time I can say it was more annoying was at a local show when a certain gym here, known for being pricks and crying or starting shit when they lose, stood by the cage and heckled any fighters one of their guys was fighting.
Yes instead of yelling for their teammate they would spend the majority of the time yelling out retarded, profanity laced insults that made them and their team look really stupid.
So I'm watching a TKO event at the Bell Center in Montreal. My 4 friends and I are sitting on the edge of the row and these guys sitting next to us are drinking up a storm and screaming all kinds of stuff at the fighters. It was pretty rude, but in the beginning it was pretty funny.
Anyways, between each fight these guys are getting up and getting a couple of beers and coming back. Half way through the event I start getting fed up of having to get up, let them shuffle past to get their beers, then getting up again when they came back. Also, they were starting to get rowdy and I was with a couple of girls who just wanted to watch the show. I'm getting kind of tired of their shit, so I ask them to switch places with us so that they'd have easier access to the beer. So we switch. They're still being loud and obnoxious and clearly hammered.
Then shit starts going down. They're standing and yelling and drinking, but there are people directly behind them trying to watch the fights, but instead are watching two especially drunken clowns acting like they're the hottest shit in the world. You could tell they were spoiling for a fight. After telling off the people who were complaining behind him, I believe one of them even said: "Don't come to the fight if you don't wanna fight".
At this point I'm pretty glad I switched with these douches cause their more sober friends are now acting as a buffer, but the people in the row behind are starting to get really pissed. Inevitably, the girls sitting behind are starting to really bitch to the point where their mouths are writing checks their boyfriends will have to cash. The bickering continues and everyone in the crowd around is watching this thing unfold.
Eventually, someone throws a punch and one of the guys from the row behind dives onto one of the assholes and they tumble down over people a row or two further. Fists are flying, people are yelling, but basically those two dickheads were on their own. Soon enough, security came and removed the two after lots of people in the crowd told them what huge asses the drunks were being.
That was my worst crowd event. If we hadn't changed places, it might have been me in that situation. It still made me really uncomfortable because all I wanted to do was watch the fights and instead I've got troublemaking assholes being total bastards. I'm glad they got thrown out.

I wont name names, but I was at an event where many well known UFC
fighters had teams competing against the hometown. Someone took a
fight personally, and all hell broke loose.
An argument turned into a brawl, which turned into a riot! There were
probably about 40 people slugging it out on all sides of the ring, and
people just charging into the fray for the fuck of it.
I had my $1500 camera with me that I was shielding like a baby, before
saying fuck this and getting inside the cage.
So it was me, the announcer and the camera crew standing inside the
cage with a full panoramic view of one of the craziest fight ever... enter
the pepper spray gentlemen!
so wheres the vid? a whole camera crew and nobody kept the video rolling?
