erathdj - It's extraordinarily unlikely that a destruction will work outside of drilling or sparring. Besides the fact that they're VERY low percentage, there are far better techniques to spend your time training. You are confusing your opinion and lack of personal experience with an objective truth. Using an ad hominem attack is hardly evidence either.
(Man, I'm still amazed that the same small group of guys is here debating this stuff with the occasional newbie.)

Hey ausgepicht. I didn't mean that as an attack at all. You read me wrong there. I thought this forum had closed when the domain changed. I meant that I was amazed it had continued all this time and I had no idea.
Regarding the destructions...I have plenty of personal experience training them. I did so for many years. I do think they're POSSIBLE to land, just not probable in a real self defense situation. And, even if you have trained them to the point of instinctually being able to apply them, I think there are much more effective techniques.
I had an old boxing coach who taught what he called "left hook to the bicep", basically he would parry a jab and simultaneously throw left hook to the bicep. He was a bit dirty, that was one of his "nicer" dirty moves.

I picked that one up from Vunak some years ago, still have it on video.
my shins looked like someone had ball peen hammered them last month when we 'lightly' sparred knee destructions. Gives one a whole new perspective on 'white pain'.... as a JKD 'newbie' it impressed upon me the effectiveness of the 'knee block destruction' and entry straight into the blast -headbutt -knees -elbows.......
