Anyone else have trouble sleeping after training?

I can't seem to get a good nights rest after a tough training session. It's over around 9:30 and the time I get home, walk the dog, shower and eat it's around 10:45 or 11.

I then either can't wind down and I end up going to bed too late or I have restless sleep/drank too much water after class and I have to get up in the middle of the night. Maybe I'm just getting old. lol. Phone Post

I've had this problem as well. I would say 60% of the time if I trained real hard and we were finished by 8:00pm I couldn't fall asleep for shit. No idea what the remedy is, but if you hear something please post. I've been doing this for almost 7yrs so I've had so shitty mornings.

same here. usually i keep thinking about jiu jitsu. very difficult for me to unwind. i've attempted xanex, and separately red wine.

I get this too. My mind races after training. Phone Post

Absolutely. Phone Post

lets get dangerous - Every night after I train. It affects my work performance at my job but I nap at lunch so I can train again at night. Vicious cycle. No cure Phone Post

I almost always need a little nap in the evening before training too. Phone Post

I take naps during lunch to cope :( Phone Post

Have you tried packing some food so that you can eat right after training and not have to wait until it's so late?

Also, I would look into taking a product like ZMA from biotest which is only about $15 a month or something like melatonin. Both of those products would help you wind down and get some good deep sleep. It's ZMA for me and it does wonders, I take it right before bed and it kicks in about 30 - 45 minutes later.

If I go to bed and feel restless I usually just get up right away and go to the living room, do ten minutes of foam rolling. The foam rolling gets much of the tension out of my body and the ten minutes helps me think of how my day went and at times I may even review my sparring, it really helps me wind down my mind.

I may get flamed for this but I have the same problem, I'll try to go to bed and will be twitching reliving and replaying the evenings sparring or drills.
Simmer a couple grams of ganja in a cup of milk for about a half hour, add 4 cups of water and teabags and bring to a boil. Strain. Drink a cup or two and aches and pains will ease, an hour or two later it's off to bed. This works for me as I choose not to ingest pharmaceuticals unless absolutely necessary.

Ya it takes me a while to get the souls of my vanquished foes into jars. Phone Post

Yeah I can't watch any matches or think about jiu-jitsu before I go to sleep or I kind of get that rush i get when I'm actually competing, try watching some monson matches though those usually put me right out lulz

This. ganja tea usually puts me straight down

Melatonin pills solved that problem for me. Phone Post

Hot shower and a beer seems to help. Cranking the heater up and watching tv on the sofa also - the heat stupefies whilst the tv mildly engages your brain

Happens all the time, won't sleep till 2-3 AM even later sometimes. Phone Post

Same here. I prefer training in the day or afternoon if possible, always get this problem after a hard session late in the evening.

Its 330a now and still awake, even after taking a sleep aid (melatonin and other shit). It sucks, fidgety and sweats and night. Wish i could say its rate, but pretty common especially after hard work for me. Phone Post

It's almost 1 am here and I got done with a mean work out with plenty of hard rolls earlier. Sleep is a dream lol gonna try and fap myself to sleep. Sometimes helps sometimes doesn't. Phone Post

Good luck man, getting ready for work, on 3 hours sleep, but will still but up class tonight... Can't stay away. Phone Post

I was lucky enogh to belong to a gym that had day classes, so when this started happening to Me I just switched. I rermember how frustrating it was to lay there til 3 in the morning knowing I had to work in a few hours.
