Anyone else think Mendes won?

scourge - one of the guys on Sherdog play by play gave it to Mendes
Yup. Everyone acts like this was jones vs glover or something. Phone Post 3.0

This is not the first time I've seen you say this. Phone Post 3.0

I had it 4-1 Aldo. Pretty easy to score. I truly don't understand how anybody can watch that fight and think Chad won 3 rounds. The people named in this thread are personal friends of Chad. They're probably the most bias spectators around. Their scores are probably the single most skewed scores you could find. 4-1 Aldo easily. Phone Post 3.0

When stuff like this happens, other wrestlers (Or BJJ guys in the reverse situation) or the guy's team and friends in MMA claim bias and that he won.

I wanted to see a shakeup at FW, it didn't happen. Fight Metric more than supports it, you could claim round 2 as a Draw and Aldo still wins, if he loses a point on top of that it's still a draw. You can argue Fight Metric sucks, but you will use it when it serves your argument when needed for the numbers. This time it seems more than accurate and shows 3 rounds where Aldo outstruck Mendes and two of them 2 to 1. You add the knockdowns and give Mendes one takedown:

People saw what they wanted to see from Mendes side.

That sum'd it up perfectly and I will hit you up with a VU tmrw good sir Phone Post 3.0

Watching it live I just go by what I see. Also giving more weight to damage.

If I re watched it and kept track maybe I'd see it that way. Phone Post 3.0

Well you need a lot of damage to make up over two to one sig strike stats in round 3, I only remember Aldo getting the knockdowns in the fight and there are no scored takedowns in 3. Your giving Mendes round 3 is, on paper and what I saw hoping Mendes won, what I can't wrap my head around while looking at fight metric.

I'll have to rewatch and see but live I thought it was mendes. Phone Post 3.0

Mendes was robbed almost as badly as Diaz was against GSP. Phone Post 3.0

Nope. Phone Post 3.0

I had it 49-47 Aldo

R1: Aldo 10-9

R2: Even 10-10

R3: Aldo: 10-9

R4: Mendes 10-9

R5: Aldo 10-9

I'll be honest. Watching it live I gave two rounds to Mendes. One being close.  After watching the fight multiple times, I think the judges got it correct. Not to take anything from Chad. Dude is a beast. I'm not sure who can beat Aldo.

nope

yabadaba - 4 rounds Aldo to 1 round Mendes IMO.
This.

If it was 48 aldo - 47 mendes it would have been ok. But aldo won three rounds and closely won a fourth IMO. Phone Post 3.0

Saved me some typing.

I think it was 3-2 at best for mendes but rounds 2,3 and 5 were very close. Phone Post 3.0

Nope

Not trying to troll guys. That's the way I saw it and I'm a bigger Aldo fan. Thanks for the feedback.

I'll have to re-watch the fight Phone Post 3.0

Not even close Phone Post 3.0

4-1 aldo and I wouldn't have gone crazy if it was 3/2. No way mendes won 3 rounds and I was rooting for him. The fight was amazing aldo deserved to win Phone Post 3.0

I think this is an instance of MMA scoring making the result look more lopsided. Mendes didn't lose any rounds by a wide margin, but Aldo clearly edged Mendes in many of the rounds. I had it 3-2 Aldo, but I think as a "fight" this was close except Aldo won more rounds convincingly.
