He looked almost gassed in the first round. He seems like he lost his 'snap' and speed. Was very sloppy looking almost from the beginning.
And why did Tito completely disengage in the third round? Something stinks ( yeah I know, this thread HA-HA), did Forrest barely train because a fix was in?
Forrest was pushing those punches.
the smell of conspiracy is in the air....
yes forrrest looked terrible. His striking looked much slower and sluggish than usual. I never though he was a top fighter, and tonite just confirmed that really.
umm, dude it was Tito who gassed in the second round.
I think this fight proved Forrest is done and will never come close to the title again.Tito should have gotten that decision winning rounds 1 & 2.
Forrest looked like he was sparring.
Forrest has never had any speed. He looked as good or better tonight than he ever has. He is a good fighter, he just lacks power and his chin isn't great, so he has to outfight and outwork his opponent for the duration while they just have to catch him with one good shot.
He is just a durable, athletic guy. He'll never be top-3 LHW again, but he looked about as good last night as he ever has.
BOTTOM LINE - neither are contenders anymore.......move on. I only wanted to see one of them recapture dominance and show the skills of better days. Both are fading and will not contend again.
i see Forrest like this, he is very tough, well conditioned, has a solid ground game but isnt a great submission expert...he has OK hands at best, very little speed or Ko power...like said above, he has to outwork his oppt to win fights..he doesnt have the speed, KO power or top wrestling/subs to finish his opponent earlier so that ;eaves him being a decision guy..i dont dislike forest i just never see him being a top contender...he just isnt really strong in any one area...
tito is done at 205...too many injuries in the past have seemed to catch up to him...his cardio isnt half of what it used to be..
OmegaPoon - Forrest looked like he was sparring.
You are correct sir! He use to come in and fight/brawl and now he just spars. He look exactly the same in the Silva fight (for awhile anyway). I don't know that it's necesarily a bad thing though. He's alot more technical, and that new style allowed him to eek out the point decision with Jackson (with some hard leg kicks sprinkled in). He's look like that for the last few fights imo.
"he just isnt really strong in any one area..."
I think he's actually strong in all areas, he just lacks the physical gifts to be exceptionally dangerous. But he outwrestled and outgrappled Shogun, his takedown defense looked strong against Tito, he outstruck Rampage for most of five rounds and outstruck Rashad for two and a half, etc. And his workrate is second to none. You can tell he's as tired as his opponents are, he just pushes through it and they don't.
tito lookled like a below average fighter and forrest looked average
He developed some speed around the second bonnar fight. In that fight, the hector ramierez fight and some of the evans fight, his striking looked really good. He was landing fast crips punches. Hes never had much power though.
ranier wolfcastle - tito lookled like a below average fighter and forrest looked average
agreed
Forrest looked better than average the first two rounds. He punched well, moved well, and had two very nice sweeps.
Forrest looked pretty good the third round. He looked closer to the Forrest that fought rampage
and no, he did not look gassed.
Forrest doesnt belong in the same sentence as 'fast, crisp' punches....i almost wonder sometimes how he can be so slow but ive always thought that speed cannot be taught or trained and im correct...
who should forrest fight next??Rogerio??what bout Tito, i think he should fight Franklin...
