isnt that still a lot better than UFC on Fuel?
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ufc-fuel-tv-7-bar%C3%A3o-182456497--mma.html
TV Ratings for UFC on Fuel TV Live Events:
UFC on Fuel TV 1: 217,000 (Sanchez vs. Ellenberger)
UFC on Fuel TV 2: 197,000 (Gustafsson vs. Silva)
UFC on Fuel TV 3: 173,000 (Korean Zombie vs. Poirier)
UFC on Fuel TV 4: 211,000 (Munoz vs. Weidman)
UFC on Fuel TV 5: 111,000 (Struve vs. Miocic)
UFC on Fuel TV 6: 88,000 (Franklin vs. Le)
UFC on Fuel TV 7: 195,000 (Barão vs. McDonald)
Fuel is in 36 million homes compared to 100 mill on Spike.
Fuel events mostly air in the afternoon or morning, not 10pm following a big show like TNA Impact.
Just saying, did anyone compare UFC on Fox events to Bellator on MTV 2? and MTV 2 was in 70-80 million homes.
I agree Spike is in more households but Bellator is a relative no name in the mma world right now. They are just getting started.
Why do people expect they would they be doing huge numbers so soon? UFC had some terrible shows and TUF seasons on spike too. not like they shut it down and left.
what makes the UFC valuable isnt their total viewership numbers. The UFC superserves target demographics. males 18-49 and males 18-34. The UFC would beat the nba in males 18-34 consistently when they were on spike.
that's what makes the UFC valuable. if you just take UFC at total viewership it wouldnt be worth shit.
so 800k for UFC isnt the same as 800k for bellator. Bellator isnt super serving the target demos to make up for the low overall viewership.
tuf pulled a 1.45 in males 18-34 this week. bellator is barely getting a third of that.
heres bellators ratings on mtv2. ouch!. So this is a step forward at least.
http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2012/12/bellator-83-ratings-second-lowest-rated-event-in-bellator-mtv2-history
Viacom is a public company...if bellator doesn't start producing soon, it will get shitcanned...count if

What are TNA ratings?
1.35m with a 0.4 in adults 18-49.

what do you think the demographics of Bellator viewers are comprised of?
60+ year old lesbian females?
they are vying for the same target market thats why they went for the switch. Spike would not drop UFC for no reason. This isnt Elite XC or Affliction, M1 etc. There are execs at Viacom and Spike that look into the financial impact of dropping a huge company like the UFC.
^ Spike wouldnt drop UFC for no reason? They dropped the UFC for the same reason they dropped the wwe... because the UFC was too big for them and they dont have the capabilities and ad partners to fully monetize it.
you think they can sell 30 second spots for 100k plus? no. Fox can. that's why they had to let the UFC go.
They couldnt fully monetize the wwe... so they had to let them go as well.
Well, hopefully they start pulling in bigger numbers.

no thats not correct at all.
watch Dana's white interview on the Joe Rogan Experience from last night. Dana said the head of Spike gave them an offer and said sign it or get out. He told Dana they made the UFC popular and they will make their own organization if they have to. If the UFC was too big it would have been the UFC cancelling the deal first and telling them they wanted to go bigger.
Spike opted to leave first so Viacom could purchase a majority share of Bellator for the potential higher profit margin. They would make more money as an mma event owner than simply working for another mma organization and splitting the revenues. They dont feel they need the UFC.
And they may be correct. The UFC isnt a real sport. Its half sport half drama. There is no feeder league to get there. There is no draft. No real standings. A contender is simply chosen at their discrection. The road to becoming a professional mma fighter is ambiguous. If Bellator doesnt pick up UFC's lost goods they can pretend they have the greatest fighters in the world. No one would be the wiser since the sport is so subjective.
The UFC has a great brand name and brand loyalty on their side and Spike seems to think they can overcome it with their talent pool. Even if they arent number 1 its possible they are in it for a large percentage of the market share than the monopoly at the moment.
liquidrob - MMALOGIC said Bellator was dead a year ago, now he gives them 3 years, regular crystal ball that guy is a tell ya
He also at first said if it settled at 600k they were done. Now he has moved it up to 700k. Lol
Viacom spent $50 million on Bellator which equated to 5% of their cash on hand. It's a drop in the bucket to a corporation of their size.
Viacom thinks Spike build the UFC...the UFC disagrees. Viacom wanted a 50% increase in fees vs. their old contract. The UFC said no. It is possible Viacom via Spike increased the fees to a point they assumed the UFC would turn them down.
This is clearly a gamble on Viacom's part. If they are correct in Spike TV built the UFC then they will be successful with Bellator operating in a similar fashion. Unfortunately, after these few weeks the numbers have been falling like rocks. I have a number of friends from both a personal and profession standpoint that fight for Bellator and everyone will tell you it's the Michael Chandler and Pat Curran show. Askren is still incredibly boring, who knows what's going on with Alvarez and King Mo just got exposed...who else is there to drive ratings? If they can't start building stars quickly, via the reality show or how ever else, things are going to be more increasingly difficult.
My guess is Viacom holds course for a minimum of 2 years. They owe Bellator that time to figure out the best course of action. At the end of the day, whether Bellator survives or fails doesn't mean anything to Viacom. It's a gamble on a time slot, nothing more.

Bellator pulls 737k viewers and fails to make the top 100 cable programs on thursday night for a third time.

This number indicates that so far spike has failed to build any stars. Mo Lawal pulled baseline numbers... pretty much the same numbers as no names.
It's been 2 months lol. They haven't failed.
They've had 6 events on a new channel, at a new time, You can't expect everything to happen over night.
Bellator 360, a rerun did 437k viewers at 12am
Why do people keep saying Bellator is a no name company and we need to give them time? Have they not put on like 90 some odd shows on television? What MMA promotion that has gone head to head with the UFC had a more established name? More people watch Bellator live every week then ever watched Pride.
The real shame in all of this?
The fact that TNA – a soap opera designed for pre-teens and mouth-breathers – is considered valuable programming relative to the legitimate MMA sports league that is Bellator.
:(
any sites replaying it?

Pancake Syrup -BRZ - Could also be its on too late for a Thursday night. 8-10 would be better.
F*cking this. I need a good reason to stay up to midnight on a weekday just to watch Bellator. I am such a shitty sleeper it would take 2-3 days just to get back to normal for a couple extra hours up. 8-10 is perfect
.
Didn't read thread yet but those numbers don't look bad, MMALogic.
