Ben Askren clearly frustrated with Dana still

No Askren to UFC :\

He has every right to that opinion of Dana. He has been black balled by the UFC for speaking his mind.

With that said, CRE is going to show in with his cock in his hand any minute now!

GOAT St. Pierre - No Askren to UFC :\

does he agree with the "demoter" view?

He’s making an good amount of loot outside the UFC, and his real bread and butter and his long term impact in the world is his Wrestling Academy. Good on him for doing what he felt was right instead of bowing down like everyone else. The only person that really lost out is the fans.

Fedor and Askren both refused to work for Dana.

The only person that really feels he lost something is Ben Askren, or else he wouldnt still be salty about it as he looks retirement in the face.

He beg to get in the UFC. Even said would do it for free.

Think that was more of him saying he would fight for free and beat the best the UFC has to offer. Dana clearly didn't want to find out how good he was either way.

He did lose something. We all did as fans as well. He has every right to have the opinion of White that he has. He didn’t say anything we don’t all believe about White. That said, he made a great situation from the hand he was dealt.

He was a step away from saying "Dana let me in, I'll suck your d(censored due to fear of getting banned for fighter bashing)ck".

You can say many things good and bad about the guy and his style, and about Dana's response to the time Bellator kicked Ben to the curve, but you can't say he "refused to work for Dana".

White never wanted him. What was his suggestion? "Go get some wins at WSOF" if I remember correctly.

True, but I do believe he carries some blame on his shoulders for the handling of the situation.

His hand was not entirely given by The Fates, he chose to fight in the boringest style ever and antagonize his boss and fans about it, leading to getting tossed out of the promotion he was Champion of, and putting the UFC in the awkward position of considering getting Fitch 2.0 and a competitors reject to boot.

His ease of tongue in talking shit about people also has another name: burning bridges. He and his fans can say "he did it his way" for sure. But in the end we will never know how good or bad he would have done.

Would he have been a Will Brooks or a Luke Rockhold? Would he have lingered with a 60k payout or could he have co-headlined PPVs with Conor Mcgregor and get Tyron Woodley money? Hey guess he said some things he wanted to say, at the moment he wanted to say them. Thats enough.

"I started training year round in 1999. The longest period I've taken off since 1999 is like 7 days, 8 days maybe and that would be a long break for me"

"Tyron Woodley that's someone I grew up with"

"I'm a fan of Michael Bisping"

All fair points.

In a perfect world, Askren fights in UFC and he earns accordingly with his wins and with his demand. I for 1 love to watch the guy fight and there are many others like me. I do realize that still leaves us in the minority. GSP was notoriously painful to watch, with much of the viewers falling asleep regularly during his bouts. But he still sold and sold PPV’s, so it’s debatable as to what he may have been able to accomplish on the PPV’s. White doesn’t care, he’s set financially and he gets to win another childish confrontation with a fighter. Fans lose and Askren lost to a degree. I think ultimately he will be fine as he transitions to the next phase of his life. He isn’t even a fighter per se’, he’s a wrestler. Nut none the less, some consider him the top fighter in the world in his weight class. Not bad for somewhat of a hobbyist.

From a specialist perspective I don’t think there has been anyone who was stronger or more dominant in an individual aspect of MMA the way he is with wrestling, maybe Werdum with the BJJ?

He’s gotten better.  He was the most boring fighter on the planet back when Dana and him were going at it.

He got a lot better at subs over there in Japan. He made some good money and if he wants a crack at the UFC he should sign for a fight or two with Bellator or another USA promotion and make some noise.

Askren is the most boring fighter that’s ever lived. I’m glad he’s not in UFC. Bellator didn’t want him either what does that tell you?

This guy makes sloths mating look exciting. What top 5 guy does he finish in ufc?

A grudge is like acid - and not the kind that was around in the '60s: It rots the vessel that holds it.
