I think it's super cool to see an MMA champion continue to test himself in the isolated disciplines to help sharpen his skills. Much respect.
Saw the pic earlier. Very cool to see!
What division does he compete at?
Bendo is a solid individual.
Looks like he won his only match at his weight.

The UFC Lightweight champion, Benson Henderson, knows no rest. This Sunday he put on his gi and tied his brown belt to compete at the 8th Arizona Open Jiu-Jitsu International. He had one only adversary in the middleweight division, young talent Christian Broadnax. The fight was almost entirely a standing game and Bendo managed one wrestling takedown to win 2-0. Now we wait to see him in the absolute, later today.

Great pic.
How come this is allowed?

It's kind of surprising that Dana and co. don't have a problem with it. It may not be bull riding but it's certainly riskier than just training, as his opponents might be going balls to the wall to get a win over a UFC champ.
That's a good point. Never thought of that...
the kid he beat is no joke
What frying said And, I THINK, other guys have been stopped from competing in BJJ that were under UFC contract.
Awesome to see this!
He could have permission to do so in his contract, much like Diaz has a special clause not to do so, (iirc.)

Also just to add to this that UFC doesn't like martial arts competitions outside of the UFC, even if it's only 1 art.
Lets say Benson loses and doesn't get injured.
Bellator signs the guy that made Benson Henderson tap.
Bellator now has "the guy that beat UFC Champion".
It doesn't do anything good for UFC other than make them look legit when Benson wins. The risk of Benson getting injured or losing, isn't worth the reward for UFC.
I like that he competed though, and wish more were allowed to or would.
King Trav -What division does he compete at?
181.5
grkblood -
toothpick or no toothpick?
betting odds: -18000 toothpick +10000 no toothpick
This is why benson continues to improve so drastically.
