Is this the best of the most popular fighters? Because im sure some lesser known names had better fights. Js
The fans went with Rory vs. Robbie II as the best UFC fight of all time.

Great thread and find, Taco. I was wondering how this turned out.
I think some folks didn't realize it was ESPN's fan voting of UFC only fights. Obviously this doesn't account for fights outside the UFC. And recent UFC fights are surely going to be more easily remembered.
Still, it was an interesting poll. Roby vs. Robbie II is not a bad choice, either, IMO.
Everyone has their own opinion. I still love that first Shogun vs. Hendo fight (I think it made it to the Final Four). I've never seen a 5 round fight be dominated so much by one guy for the first 3 rounds and then dominated by the other the final 2. Plus there were so many bombs landed in that fight, to this day I can't believe neither was knocked out. It didn't hurt that it occurred between two of the all time greats, as well, I suppose. But I have no problem w/ Robbie vs. Rory II winning.

I'm satisfied with Lawler/MacDonald II being the #1 pick.
If you were going to introduce someone to the sport, that would be a fight that would definitely hold their attention, and maybe make them a little queasy.
;)

Yeah, might make them a bit queasy if they'd never watched MMA before. But Lawler/MacDonald II was an epic fight, no doubt.
Interesting note. Back in 2011, Hendo vs. Shogun I was in the discussion to be the first UFC event shown on Fox, but they decided to go w/ Cain vs. JDS I, which was one week before, instead.
Cain vs. JDS I was over in one minute. While Shogun vs. Hendo I ended up being one of greatest fights ever, but also extremely violent.
Some think Cain vs. JDS I was a better "introduction" to the masses, since it was "milder." Others think Shogun vs. Hendo I would have hooked more people, while some worry its brutality might have turned some folks off. Who knows, I guess.
Thingading -Fucking crazy! Watched both, that hendo fight was amazing live. And that gox card stunk if i remember right. Tragic.Taco muncher -Thingading - Great thread and find, Taco. I was wondering how this turned out.

/\ Yeah, they really ended up screwing up on that one. The Cain vs. JDS fight, and card in general, was nothing special.
But the Hendo vs. Shogun card was excellent.
In addition to their awesome fight, the fans would have gotten to see Wanderlei KO Cung Le. Plus, Urijah Faber sub Brian Bowles. Also on the card was Martin Kampmann, Rick Story, Ryan Bader, Miguel Torres, Matt Brown & Stephan Bonnar!
Some of the audience would have likely remembered Bonnar from his famous and televised fight w/ Griffin on the first TUF.
Finally, there were a couple of young, up and coming future champions named Chris Weidman & Rafael dos Anjos with fights on that card.
Looking back, it was a big time fail not to go w/ the Hendo vs. Shogun card as their first ever event on Fox.
But, of course, the UFC brass ended up saying they made the right call going w/ the Cain vs. JDS card. Established MMA fans laughed at that BS.
Grindo's Power Bottom - Kongo vs Barry has my vote
How the hell is this not on the list somewhere?
Lawler MacDonald 2 was an outstanding fight, can't argue with that.
For me personally Bigfoot and Hunt 1 might be my favorite, perhaps not on replay value nor was it a huge exhibition of skill, probably just on heart and toughness of both guys alone has made it stand out as one of the greatest fights for me. I just remember at the time going absolutely apeshit as it was so back and forth that you just didn't know how either guy was standing up and the tide shifted constantly on who was winning, not just once or twice throughout the fight but each round Hunt or Bigfoot would be winning and the next minute look hurt, back and forth constantly, was crazy at the time.
Shogun Hendo 1 might be one of the biggest displays of heart I've seen though, Shogun was absolutely battered and hurt so badly, but he didn't just get a ko out of nowhere like many people have in the past, it was drawn out over the entire rest of the fight. That's what makes me a huge fan of his, biggest heart of them all.

This list of fights was popularity, not objectivity.
That said, Lawler/Rory Mac was a solid choice for king.
