BLAF says they spend 20 million a year on fighter safety but

The O’Malley was a big let down. Fuck

Yeah, not sure about that one but the eye poke was still there.

Yeah it’s gonna keep happening. That one was more of a rake which can be the worst ones sometimes

I don’t understand how he was permitted to fight with these. The guy even checked them and laughed. Talk about clawing an eyeball. Rounded fingertips will have more of a chance of sliding off that area but these claws?

Nice to see some MMA youtubers starting to talk about this issue and getting new gloves.

I’ll try to check it out.

Most of those MMA YouTube suck. They just steal social media posts and make a video from it. Lol

But UFC needs new gloves.

I was just talking to a buddy that collects gloves … neither of us have seen a pair of official UFC gloves with tags past 2018.

Even at the expo this past weekend, I opened a ton of the bags to check the tags, I wanted a pair of Zuffa at least 2020 or later… but they were all 2018 still. The tags used to changed annually. Maybe they made a shitload in 2018 or hopefully that Century contract is up soon… I doubt it though because PFL just switched to Century gloves!

If that’s MMA On Point, then those guys are awesome, they know what they’re talking about. I’ll check it out later.

We need something for these fucking eye pokes. Been so much damage done already - do we have to wait until someones eye is literally sitting on the canvas like any given sunday

Century gloves suck balls.

…and not in a good way…

Has to be a way to trial new glove designs on TUF or contender series until they get them right.

Even invest in some local events no one is watching and issue all fighters free gloves for that promotion and do the research

It’s simple logistically. If it’s a commercial issue then that is a disgrace

I admit that back in the day when I was doing karate they did have one decent gi type I used to buy because it fit well, but man, everything else they make is total dog cr@p.

Yeah I know what you mean. I did Kyokushin back in the day and used one as well. They seemed okay back then. And of course when you’re just getting started in martial arts or using it casually, it’s easier to afford and can be found in a lot of places.

But it’s all low quality. The heavy bags (these especially suck), gloves, mitts, shin pads, etc… even their hand wraps are low quality material and don’t provide much protection. It’s shit. I’ve actually been using Venum for years (trunks, wraps, shin guards, mitts), I use an Everlast heavy bag, and a pair of UFC gloves I bought from the UFC Gym when I trained there.
