Buffer says fighters go into irrelevancy outside the UFC

That’s who he was hinting at you think?

I kind of assumed Bruce was referring to David Diamante on DAZN Boxing, because anytime I have heard this guy announce a fightI always thought he was a watered down version of Michael Buffer.

While I was looking for a clip to post I discovered that Diamante was in a bad motorcyle accident in December, suffering a spinal injury.

I wonder if his hair got caught up in the back wheel.

OnlyFans has kept allot of female’s from going into obscurity.

Meanwhile Chad mendes is saying he will make more in his fight with bkfc than Francis made last week defending the ufc heavyweight title.

^ Ya, I’m having a little trouble getting my head around that claim. Sounds like a piss poor business model to me. The organization isn’t that well viewed yet, and Chad Mendes isn’t exactly a big draw in the UFC, so how many buys do they think his name is going to pull for them? It makes no sense.

buffer should pack it in let somebody else have a go at making some money.
he’s a greedy bastard.

^ Or, maybe he’s got a dream job and he doesn’t want to give it up. Should Michael Buffer give up what he’s doing so somebody else can make some money at it? He’s 13 years older than Bruce. What a strange thing to say.

It sucks that the ufc has a monopoly but it’s true. Fighting in Bellator means about the same as fighting in a local show to 99.9% of the world. As dumb as it is… it’s true.
I heard a helluva lot more about Gaetche and Chandler when the UFC recruited them.
And when Eddie Alvarez left… he seemed to drop off the earth.
Always hoping it’ll change but I lost hope when Bodog went under, and WEC & IFL etc etc etc x100

Oh and Mighty Mouse was called the best P4P and now I know guys that train every day ti fight who never heard of the guy.
Mma will be great for fighters when the ufc doesn’t have a monopoly. But fact is they still do

ONE is awesome

Soccer kicks to the face

They actually banned soccer kicks several years ago.

Knees to downed opponents are still allowed tho as we saw with Demetrious Johnson.

He’s fighting on the same card as Mike Perry, Julian Lane and Luis Palomino. The hardcores will buy.

^ There aren’t nearly enough hardcores to support Mendes getting $600K, not to mention the other fighters needing to get paid. On top of that, a good percentage of hardcores are probably streaming the shit out of it online. I have no idea how the ppv model continues to exist as it is.

Everyone keep fucking up that quote and saying “Chad makes more than Francis!!” but what Chad said was that he was getting paid well, and was making a bunch of $ from sponsors as well (I think he said it was nearly as much as his purse) and that he saw what was reported for Francis’ pay, and he’s making more than that…so he’s saying he’ll make more than the $500K that was reported for Francis’ base salary.

Francis makes WAAAAYYYYY more than $500K. Jon Jones had a $500K base salary and was saying he was making $5M per fight. I don’t think Francis makes what Jon was making, but Francis is likely making somewhere in the 1.5M-3M range depending on how well it sells.

Chad did not say he makes more than Francis, he was saying between what BKFC is paying him, and what he’s getting in sponsors, he’ll make more than $500K.

You do realize businesses are legally allowed to operate at a loss indefinitely, right? If it means fighters get to get paid big money for a few years before they go under or sell then so be it.

What other organizations outside the UFC have good national TV exposure?

^Bellator was on Spike/Paramount, now Showtime and YouTube outside the states.

ONE has had cards on TNT.

And PFL is currently on ESPN.

Combate is on Paramount+ and replays are shown on the Pluto app.

Edit: has PFL found a new broadcaster/distributor? I think their contract with ESPN is up.

Edit 2: it’s not MMA’s Professional Fighters League Extends ESPN Deal – Deadline

but at least michael buffer is good at what he does, the other clown isn’t.

I watch every single UFC, Bellator and PFL top to bottom, but I don’t know how anyone has time for the overseas leagues anymore. I watched the few shows ONE did in TNT.l, they were great, I just can’t keep up. It has to be impossible for a casual. I used to watch all the Japanese leagues but there’s just way too much MMA these days. I guess it’s a good problem to have, more MMA, but I can’t keep up and it pisses me off as a fan.
