For the past year Donald Cerrone has been the most active fighter on the UFC roster. Of course he loves to fight, and he's winning, but also because he has to stay ahead of the IRS:

Cerrone loves to fight, that much is clear. During a recent interview with Bruce Buffer and TJ DeSantis on the It's Time podcast, however, Cerrone revealed another reason for fighting so often.
"I've been taking those fights just to pay my taxes off, that's what people don't understand," he revealed.
"They give us this big chunk of money and then idiots like me spend it all. Then they tell me, 'wait, you have to pay us our set.' Then, I have to go fight again so I can pay them. (laughs)"
Catlin - Why isnt everything pre taxed in Merica? The way it works here is that it is already built into the price so it automatically gets paid.
It is for salaried and hourly employees. Independent contractors like UFC fighters will get the entire sum and then pay taxes at the end of the year because they can write off expenses related to their work then pay taxes on the leftover.

I wish him the best and am a fan, just don't understand why its so hard to stick 30% in a savings account. Plus guys like that can write off a TON of stuff if they are smart about it.

This is exactly what I do. I throw the 40% into a high interest savings account, and make money off the money I have to pay to the government once a year.
It's very simple if it's the first thing you deduct from your paid invoice, and since I over save end up with a decent chunk to put wherever I want.
