I had honestly forgotten this fight even happened. It had Chuck shooting a takedown, about four knockdowns, White landing some hard shots (Chuck still had a chin), hard ground and pound, and both fighters stumbling and flopping all over the cage. All this in a four minute fight. The finish was a little suspicious to some. Liddell appeared to communicate with someone at ringside just before the fight ending punch which didn’t look that hard and the way White went down appeared unusual too. I’m not saying I think it was a fix, but it was definitely weird.
Ken claimed Vernon got thumbed in the eye after. Didn’t specify if it was the knuckle or digit. Pretty sure white was a replacement because it was a ridiculous mismatch lol. White lost to Gregory smit in pancrase unless it was worked. That guy was terrible.
I think Chuck was supposed to fight Randy for the title. Something happened to Randy, and the UFC gave Chuck the option to wait for the title fight. Chuck decided to fight instead, and I’m pretty sure Vernon got the nod, because him and Chuck had some kind of dislike for each other making it a grudge match.
That was impressive for Vernon, he had a broken orbital from the last punch, he talked a bunch of trash about Liddell in interviews for years before
In the late 90s/early 2000s Vernon was built up in magazines like grappling and others like he was a killer and where I was in Texas there was no footage of his fights so finally seeing his fights was a bit of a let down but he had good performance every now and then
Vitor chose to still fight even though his sister had just been kidnapped by bandits in brazil.years later they were brought to justice.but really though who the fuck does that .he should’ve been out looking for his sister.thats insane
He shouldve been out roaming the countryside for bandits? She was already dead and if he found them theyd kidnap him, rape him, torture him in ways only a south american can think of, then kill him.
