Hopefully this goes back to the original Strikeforce entertainment first mindset. He fucked up signing too many good but boring fighters with Bellator.
Phil Davis and Ryan Bader were not the guys you want.
When the UFC cuts a couple of really good fighters there’s obviously some reason.
Tough spot when you have top tier guys available to you but those same guys are grinding wrestlers.
I guess in the public’s eyes the UFC can afford to cut top level guys if they don’t like what they do but anyone below the UFC doesn’t really have that luxury and has to take the top talent they can get without any entertainment considerations.
When they want to try and be a top organization that is.
When you are Strikeforce and more regional it’s a bit different. Hopefully Coker does do that again and he doesn’t get caught up in the idea of building a super serious organization trying to usurp the UFC.
they are but they are small like Shawne Merriman has a fight org and there are others that have small market segments and tiny TV Time

A BKFC version of MMA is what I want. There’s probably a number of fighters they could sign that could outpoint Mike Perry. But instead they bring in people for him to have wars with. The same way Strikeforce would feed Cung Le instead of matching him against some wrestler. Build around exciting/marketable fighters and the fans will come.
Good for him. More competition is always a good thing.

That says this Monday 3/18 unless you got some inside info HKP lol
nice I loved going up there for events. saw many a war at that arena.
Quite the opposite. I’m from the area. Have a certain amount of information on it. Coker essentially cockblocked the UFC from San Jose through his local connections as a promoter. If you look at the history, there’s a reason Ufc didn’t do any shows there, despite it being a hotbed, until they purchased strikeforce. And there’s a reason, that once Scott got involved with bellator, that ufc wasn’t welcomed back, even though bellator held a bunch of shows there.
Cung Le Vs Frank Shammy…
Interesting.
Thanks.
