Just listened to the latest SDS show and Coker was on. Couple notes:
*Strikeforce offered Shields management Jacare twice (before Hendo) and his management turned it down both times.
*Expecting Fedor back by the end of the year/early next year.
*Expecting a long term relationship with M1. Negotiations going good.
Other than that just more vanilla answers about Batista, Toughill, Herschel, and still wants to do a MW tourney.
I guess we should give GSP shit for "ducking" Sonnen, as well.
Jacare's not exactly a big name which is probably why they turned it down.
I could be wrong, but I think Shields said he had wanted to go back to WW for the last fight on his contract until the Hendo fight came up and Strikeforce more or less forced him into it??
People forget how little of a chance Jake was given against Henderson. It's not like he picked an easier opponent. Dan has a better chin, stand-up (with KO power) and wrestling than Jacare.
So why did Shields do it if that's the case? Dan's also a bigger name.

Jacare would have worked him on the ground and Souza has some pretty good stan-up now too. Jake would be afraid to got to the ground and would have been in trouble on the feet.

I'd be inclined to believe that if Jake's stand-up wasn't so terrible. I think it'd be easier to KO him than submit him.

And give Jake a little more credit than using the Mayhem fight as "proof" of a shitty ground game. He trains with the best jiu-jitsu team in the states.
Jacare would submit Shields in a blink of an eye.
lol of course hes going to talk shit after Shields leaves
after Fedor finds another sucker org or retires, Cokers gonna tell us after the fact how he was ducking Overeem

Coker talked shit on Buentello before as well.
“We offered Paul a six-figure contract to fight Fedor, but he turned it down,” said Coker in a statement released in September of 2009. “His decision is understandable considering Fedor’s level of skill but, at the same time, Paul didn’t really fit into our plans. He’s been a solid journeyman fighter and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
Coker should just stick to worrying about keeping Strikeforce's fighters active. There are a lot of fighters on that roster that are not very happy. Fighting once every 8 months for most of these guys does not pay the bills.

coker is a piece of shit.
fedor ducks overeem and coker doesn't do shit.
jake beat SF's new super free agent hendo then leaves.
again, SF does shit. hopefully nick and gil soon leave that loser org.
Jacare is a nightmare matchup for Shields, not surprised he wouldn't touch that fight.
Dana white said the same shit about fedor.
i thought coker was supposed to have more class

Wow if Strikeforce is offering six figure contracts to solid journeymen that don't really fit into their plans, all of their main fighters they actually have plans for must be making millions!

JAcare would tap out Shields easily, yet he couldnt tap out Mayhem who Shields outgrappled for 5 rounds.
UG Logic!
mcpeepants232003 - funny how the SF nuthuggers try to defend Coker as the classier alternative to Dana White but yet every time a fighter chooses another org other Sf he finds a way to trash them in the press.
First Baroni, second Buentello and now Shields. How classy.
Not many people defend Coker maybe a couple.
The Dana on the otherhand..
