Ask Craig if he’s gonna do something special for the tickets. I’m headed to adcc with a crew from my gym but if everyone goes to cji we may want to jump ship over there for at least one day or depending how it’s set up

Likewise depending on the situation I’ll at least do the Friday at CJI. Heading over from the UK so all this upheaval is nuts

jiu jitsu is changing. Danaher and the Americans changed everything (for the better). No gi will continue to grow. Ask any person who doesnt train who the mundials or pans champ is - tell them the name see if they recognize it. Then ask them who Gordon Ryan is. Not a lot of people who dont train wont know Gordon, but some do. That says a lot. Guys like Gordon and Danaher are visible outside the jiu jitsu world partly because of lex or rogan but the point is, they are the first to really transcend the immediate bjj universe and step out into the mainstream.
No gi jiu jitsu is more fun to watch and if either style has a chance to make it bigger, it will be no gi. The gi is proving to be a relic.
This is coming from a 3 decade long practitioner who until 2 years ago never did no gi and wasnt interested in it and now it is all I want to do. The simultaneous attack/defend element makes it so much fun and mentally challenging and the best part is that I dont feel like I got hit by a bus after a hard training session. Workouts are much more productive and active and my body has changed a lot because of it.
I think what CJ is doing is incredible. These athletes deserve far more than they get paid and this healthy competition is going to bring much more money into the sport. It will further drive gi jiu jitsu into the ground. Why compete for a shitty IBJJF gold medal when you could win a lot of money?
The calculus has changed. For decades the IBJJF was ripping off competitors, giving them shitty medals and saying “well you can charge more at seminars if you win!” The new business model is that you can actually win money as a professional in the sport, then create digital content that will make you a lot of money. No more shitty medals and getting on airplanes every weekend to teach seminars.
Things are changing in jiu jitsu. For the better.

I think Nicky Ryan wants to keep it private since it was between him and his brother. Out of respect for Nicky the other guys just say it’s not their story to tell.

I think it’s deffo the KC guy. They also broadcast on YouTube as well as Fight Pass.
The CJI will also use a similar concept for the matted area which will be interesting
Hulk has joined CJI and looks like two more significant Brazilians to be announced over the weekend.
Gabi vs Craig is actually going to happen. She seems like a real cunt from the Yelp reviews, definitely embodied the old school spirit of Brazilians when they opened schools in America
Yeah that was a big thing a little while back. She obviously has a lot of personal issues but it sounded like a complete shit show
