I’d like to bang some sense into Gabi over the course of a weekend, a few bottles of wine, and a handful of mdma
Need more on this gabi school fiasco. Sounds like a blast
I posted a link to her dojo’s Yelp, search on Google for Alliance Eastval Gabi , the Google reviews say it all
Thanks. Just finished it.
What a train wreck.
Sounds like gabi has a lot of demons. Plus a full blown narcissist that can’t see she is the problem. Hope she gets help
I dunno… this Yelp review of Gabi Garcia by “business owner Gabi Garcia”, actually speaks very highly of Gabi Garcia…
“Absolutely the Best Jiu-Jitsu gym ! Gabi Garcia is truly Second to no one. She is so hands on along with her coaches I have never seen a 9X world champion so hands on with her students. Its Insane. Their mats are the best in the business, they have awesome showers . Its nice that theres two separate mats for beginners and intermediate classes. Such a nice person, owner and Coach!”
Literal million dollar question: How does CJI expect to recoup costs and prize money?
The idea that some “millionaire fan” bankrolls this shit just for fun is only believed by total rubes and retards.
Millionaires don’t become millionaires by losing millions of dollars. You nitwits.
Keno.
Well he has said it’s going to be run as a non profit
A non profit that has $1million in prize money? Tells me right here either Craig has no idea what he’s doing or he’s full of shit.
not sure if you listened to him on rogan but neither he nor the investor are doing this to make money (whatever they do make is going to charity). Its about the athletes.
The only way to change the shit pay these athletes get is by doing it on the same weekend as the ADCC. He brought up a good point - rather then paying the athletes more, they changed from the T&M centre in vegas to the Tmobile centre at a huge cost…so much more money is going into the promotion and the athletes are getting nothing. 5k or 10k to win is jack shit. At this level they need to find a way to do better.
I’m still struggling with the notion that a lot of new students who only train no-gi, have never put on a gi, and have no idea how to apply even the most basic submissions with the gi (e.g., cross collar choke) are still training “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.” I know this topic has been debated to death. It’s just something I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around.
Firas Zahabi (Danaher black belt and GSP’s coach) says he reconciles this by allowing athletes to train no-gi only up until purple or brown belt, after which they’re required to learn the gi specific techniques before being promoted further. Interesting idea but I’m sure lots of purists hate that.
How many great grapplers has Firas created? GSP is an anomaly
For now this all seems like an overreaction to a single venue selection by ADCC, on a particular year. Because that money “had to go to the athletes!!!1”
Oh, and Bruce Buffer.
Which seems a bit unconvincing on Craig’s part.
Starting his own promo, getting a backer - that’s all good.
Picking a fight with ADCC over nothing - not that good.
its not over nothing. Its over competitors making more money. They deserve it and the money is there, it is just being misallocated. Anyone interested in this subject should listen to CJ on rogan recently. He talks about all of this
Yeah I agree but they are not doing this for a return. They are giving any profits to charity. This is not being done to make money / run solely as a business
Craig said that if the ADCC prize had been increased to even 20 thousand none of this would have happened.
Well there is little sense in strongarming someone like this.
It leaves a sour taste in their mouth even if they back down and give more money (and they’re giving money as it is). A step closer to them leaving the scene alltogether.
100 athletes that get trips and accomodation and cornermen and an arena to battle it out might not be THAT happy about that. Or at least should not be.
And if Craig was about more money for the competitors, then they would’ve made even more money if they were able to participate on both ADCC and CJI.
ADCC can spend their money whichever way they please. They’ve been simply donating for the last 2 and a half decades. And now we complain over how much they donate?
Usually it’s not a good idea to get all entitled over what’s someone’s good will, and pretty much a handout.
And even if you decide that it’s not “enough”, you could do your own thing without picking quite an ungrateful fight.
Lotto Scratchers or betting on dog races --there are lots of viable options.
