"He's been with us forever. He was always a tough guy and was right up there, but it's almost like he'd become a gatekeeper. I like Okami, and you've heard me say this many times, that a win over Yushin Okami meant something. But, he was never able to get over the hump and win one of those [significant] fights. We have a lot of guys coming in and I've been saying this all year: We have a full roster and there are guys who deserve opportunities. When you bring guys in, someone has to go. That's why these fights are so meaningful."
Sorry I thought that was just a link to Iole's profile or something I don't post stories often, it just went up on facebook and copied it. sorry I'll fix it
With a cut like this, (even being a huge Yushin Okami fan) I was looking for something far greater. Some contractual dispute, some ridiculous requests on Okami's part, some huge sum of money that couldn't be agreed upon, etc.
This reasoning simply won't suffice.
If a win over Okami "means something," then why would he be included in the "someone has to go" statement? I have stuck up for just about every decision Dana and the UFC has made, understanding their point of view. I dont here.
I have purchased 10 of the last 13 UFC pay-per-views (many more, this is just what I quickly counted). I've purchased $50 cards that even I balked at, simply out of habit. Sometimes it's a large group of friends for a marquee fight, sometimes it's just me and my dog.
This cut ensures that it will be a very long time before I give them my money again. I'll catch them at BW3's or a bar from now on.
The key here is . Was Okamis contract up?? If it was and they didn't resign him are they forced to resign him? I love Okami but In that hypothetical situation explain to be are they obligated to sign him?
If not "getting over the hump" is grounds for getting booted from the UFC then why was Michael Bisping about to headline a card til he gto injured?
he never got a title shot
And??
The quote attributed to Dana White was "he (Okami) was never able to get over the hump and win one of those [significant] fights."
This also applies to Bisping, who has lost every one of the 'significant' fights he has had like Hendo, Sonnen and Belfort, yet he was about to headline an event until he got injured.

That's not a cut then, that's a opting not to renew and I don't remember it happening to a top 10 fighter besides Rampage who didn't want to anyways.
well kevin iole wrote a story and got a quote from dana. then mma mania, copy and pasted that quote and created a story around it, and linked back to iole's article. if someone is going to link to the original quote from dana, i think the click should go to the person who originally got the quote, not the person who cut and pasted.
