Dana was a in foul mood on Saturday

The journalist asks a totally reasonable question, Dana first pretends not to hear it, then he acts like it’s some kind of gotcha question and tells the media to fuck of and leaves. Belal winning really got to this guy

It’s pretty clear that the UFC has now fully transitioned into a sports/combat entertainment company. Effectively sacking Mokaev is the latest but not last piece of evidence. As fans we should try to adapt and not take their decisions and match making seriously. Dana knows he can do and say anything and the billions will keep rolling in. Good for them to create the money avalanche that they have made the UFC into. Anyone who thinks Jon Jones “walks out of the room” with any other human doesn’t understand the difference between sport combat and fighting for your life. Dana basically making him out to be a superhero is laughable, he’s not Captain America (it’s fiction). Everyone knows the truth about JJ, his character, his actions and what lengths he’ll go to in order to win at MMA. Yes he’s an MMA prodigy but that’s where it ends. It’s interesting that the land of the free can’t get enough of a company that is the sweat shop of sports/sports entertainment and run by someone who conducts himself as a tyranical dictator. In for the comments of Dana looks after so many people and they dont have to sign the contracts… bring on the simpleton comments…

It was early morning so he was probably in a cranky, sleep deprived mood. Not sure why they booked it at such a bad time.

The UFC should go ahead and rename to The Ultimate Kickboxing Championship though, they don’t seem to want grappling at all.

@Six_Demon_Bag will like this

Edit.

Just seen , he has liked it

Just start a new BMF league.

Dunno why he’d even be all that annoyed. Belal beating Leon was nowhere near as bad as if Blaydes derailed Tom, or Bobby (sorry…“King”) beat Paddy. He got 2 out of 3 of the results he wanted.

Isn’t the promotion that Mike Perry is starting basically MMA with no or minimal grappling? That actually sounds like an attractive sport.

let’s be honest, that journalist was asking a shit-stirring question, the best possible outcome for him was Dana slipping up and putting his foot in it with an ill-considered comment about the middle east etc.

it must be incredibly annoying to invite journalists to your show and watch them set up tripwires like this, all the while pretending that they are asking innocuous questions. it’s extremely disingenuous. if you’re a billionaire, that sort of shit must be still further insufferable.

let’s not forget that these press conferences are different to politicians or civil servants taking questions. they can invite who they like and expect lay-ups. they aren’t there to be held to account by their guests.

we won’t see this journalist at any future events.

He was still super pissed about the Canelo thing

No dude. That was not a shit stirring question, that was not a gotcha. That was a specific question about policy based on the actions of a UFC employee. Dana should have acted like an adult and answered the question.

Dana has this tendency to treat basic journalistic questions as if it’s an attack on him and you are going along with his narrative. It’s not a trick question to ask about a policy that the UFC themselves chose to implement. Just answer the question dude.

listen to yourself. you are describing a tricky question and pretending the ufc is in line to answer to us/journalists. they have made it very clear that they work on an invite-only basis at press conferences.

I’m not buying into anything, I’m describing the nature of the company and their relationship with tricky questions.

should they answer hardball questions? yes, absolutely.

do they need to? no, so they don’t.

if you ask a question that could make dana or the ufc look foolish, you’re gone. he’s gone. journalists need to work with what’s in front of them. not what they hope is in front of them.

Sounds like karate combat

He should have known tho !!
As every year in this date Canelo books a fight in Vegas

That’s Dana and his teams fault

Jon Jones is walking out of that room against 99% of the male population…I’ll give it 1% maybe 1.5

If he was 155lbs you’d have an argument

any type of a ‘real’ question is a shit stirring question to dana. he wants journalists to ask about attendance, and how much money they drew in, and how many views the new powerslap video got.

who do you think survives being locked in a room with jon jones?

Exactly! I can’t believe Dana is acting so surprised. He’s probably just pissed because he won’t even be able to watch his own Sphere show because now he has to watch boxing instead

So you just sgreed with me. 1% of 2 billion men is 20 million that would walk out of the room instead of JJ. Let’s bring it down to 1 billion men so 10 million walk out ahead of him. I am in no way throwing share of JJ about his MMA ability but it’s a sport. I’m just sick of dana saying it while JJ holds up the division.
