Dear Floyd.....what happens if....

Squared Circle
MMA fighters have trouble dodging punches from their fellow bingo-hall palookas.

If one managed to slip a punch from a pugilist-specialist of Floyd's caliber, there would be three more punches waiting for him wherever he weaved.

Mercer has written the blueprint.  Don't jab, don't dance, don't feel these mugs out.  Just lay on a solid shot and let your skills weave through their beginner-level defenses like a button-seeking missile.

Bop n' drop.

dont bullshit, sylvia obviously didnt take Mercer seriously. I mean come on who would think Mercer was going to win? I guarantee Sylvia takes the rematch

also Mercer coudlnt take a single kick to the head

and isnt Kit Cope a great striker? Look at how Kenny beat him.

"and isnt Kit Cope a great striker?"

no

former IPMTO Light Heavyweight Muay Thai World Champion (23-1, 9 KO)

im sure he is decent

and I remember Kit doing some nice elbows in that fight to. Thats how a striker would get beat up.

D0N Johnson - Buakaw would beat Mayweather with no hands.

And....PBF would wreck Buakaw with no feet. It works both ways genius. Boxing rules = 39-0 Boxer winning. Muay Thai rules = MT Champion winner. See its pretty simple.

we're talking about mma striking where you can use all the tools.

Mayweather has no chance against a good thai fighter. none.

Bobby Lupo -  It would be hilarious if any MMA guy threw a leg kick at a boxer of PBF's caliber. The MMA guy would be tasting right hand and dreaming of getting some dragon jeans with that $2000 Condom Depot paid for his ass space before he got to put his foot back down.

Yep.

evil veiled -

Does he not realize it is practically impossible to use boxing skills effectively in the Octagon? has anyone bothered to point this out to him, during his numerous interviews?

Or will he pay his opponent to box him, instead of grapple and submit him? Will he talk trash to keep the opponent from landing hella leg kicks?

Impossible to use boxing skills effectively? LOL @ that horseshit. LOL even harder @ "hella leg kicks". What are you, 12 years old?

Marquez is gonna knock him out anyway. Bet on it

I like how Floyd is supposed to be "The Man" but has to take on a guy who is naturally 10 lbs lighter than him.

lol the boxing trolls are out in full force

But im surprised to see Your Father trolling on the boxing side. Creonte

The Sultan -  I like how Floyd is supposed to be "The Man" but has to take on a guy who is naturally 10 lbs lighter than him.

6 championships in 5 different weight classes. He's fought plenty of guys bigger than him.

Let's be real, Buakaw would seriously destroy Floyd's leg.

I give him 3-4 serious leg kicks and he'd be limping around the ring. Then wait until later that night when he can't walk.

D0N Johnson -
sak-fu - How can MMA'ers dodge a punch thrown by one of the fastest if not the fastest boxer right now if elite boxers who train in said art can't even see the punch coming? This is in 8 oz gloves too. Just sayin.

Floyd is a counter-puncher. His style is terrible for MMA.

He basically sits on the outside and picks his potshots against the aggression of his opponents.

If a solid thai fighter were to fight him. Floyd would have no range to fire any shot.

Don't refer to Tim Sylvia and Bob Sapp please. The UFC and K-1 Heavyweights have always been a fucking joke.

K-1 Max for example has solid talent. Any of those regulars would put Floyd out.

This is so true, I mean do any of you guys actually watch Floyd fight? An aggresive power puncher like Manny Pacquiao or brawler like Ricardo Mayorga would translate much better into MMA. Floyd wouldn't even win in the stand up exchanges with an elite kickboxer/thai fighter and we all know a grappler could probably KO with a hard takedown or ground n pound.

uniqueid09 - Kicking is vastly overrated. It is better to have great hands, defense, and head movement, than to have great kicks.

Kickboxing leads to poor striking overall.

Kicking is the least of Floyd's concerns. In fact, kicking opens up headshots, and anyone dumb enough to to try and strike with him deserves being KO'ed.

Floyd has the ground to worry about the most, not a kickboxer. MMA fans have been deluded by MMA striking.

boxers are especially trained in
"telegraphing" moves just by opponents position/stance.

wHAt makes the MMA supporters think Floyd doesnt know how to read body mechanics and bodyshifting? He would know what to avoid and stay away from and outside the range of an opponents strong side. if he dodges fast punches what makes u think throwing a kick is gonna be harder ?

push come to shove he will "circle" and rush in .

I think your wrong on this. An agressive boxer will get taken down easily. A counterpuncher with any kind of sprawl and great footwork is much more effective. Chuck Liddel is a hall of fame striker with limited boxing skills thats hard to take down thats lived on counterpunching. If Floyd could avoid the clinch and takedown [which i doubt he could] he would murder any mma fighter.

LOL at this shit.
The whole sport of muay thai is based on kicks.
