Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane

Yeah it’s kind of ridiculous how quickly people are forgetting that Lewis isn’t an easy out. Gane made it look that way though. Credit to his skill

Yeah but he’s a technical wizard who systematically destroys people by taking away all of their weapons until they are left with nothing. That’s entertaining to me, it’s literally the primary reason I’m interested in MMA.

Yeah. Lewis literally was never even knocked down before tonight. JDS finished him while he was still standing. Lewis still didn’t go out but Gane landed brutal shots.

I understand, but about 95% of people don’t enjoy it. I’ve trained various martial arts for 25 years and I don’t find it particularly compelling at heavyweight. I can appreciate what Adesanya does to other well rounded fighters that are great athletes. I’m not interested in watching Gane break down and tire out fat guys that can’t move and possess one or two weapons. At heavyweight I want to see chaos and destruction because most of the guys are terrible.

Mitrione and Shawn Jordan both dropped and tko’ed him.

I appreciate this as well.

Well he generally gets finishes but it’s pretty rare that a fighter finishes everyone. He out classed Jarzhino and gave Volkov a good beating, he just has an iron chin. I felt like Derrick got injured but I’m not really sure. A lot of shit happened in that last sequence.

Seriously? Wow not sure how I missed that but excuse my inaccurate statement.

I think 95 percent is a high number but that’s just splitting hairs, I’m certain a lot of people don’t enjoy Gane’s fighting style. He also dominates people, another thing I like watching. What people don’t understand is that he is creating a lot of damage with his techniques, even if it doesn’t look like it. There are other fighters who employ a “hit and not get hit” style that I don’t enjoy watching because they aren’t really looking to engage in a fight at all. There are also plenty of guys who move forward the entire fight, miss on 70 percent of their strikes, or land most and still don’t do much damage. Gane is at least the aggressor almost all the time.

Especially at heavyweight. We’ve not seen a talent like this.

Jones wouldn’t want to face Gane, lol.

Gane is going to end up being he HW version of Usman.

Great way to sum that up.

One good performance doesn’t erase the many times that he has bored me.

And you sound like a troll on about 20 different threads currently.

Complete domination. Lewis one trick pony, literally zero footwork.

Wasn’t Jordan’s ko some kind of wheel kick?

Since when has Lewis been this indestructible force who can’t be finished. He’s been KO’d or TKO’d four times in his career before last night. Matt Mitrione, Shawn Jordan, Mark Hunt, and a way past his prime JDS all put him out. DC obviously subbed him but he could have taken him out any way he chose to.

Lewis is an exciting fighter with knockout power but he has significant flaws and flat out quit last night when he got tired and frustrated. Let’s see Gane do that to Francis, Jones, or Stipe before we go crowning him. Before last night his biggest wins were decisions and a finish of JDS who hasn’t been an elite fighter in years.

I gotta say, this has me pissed.

I really wanted to see Lewis get the proper title fight.

For what, so they could stare at each other for 30 minutes? Lewis vs Nganou was the worst HW fight in recent history and it robbed the fans that night l, which we will never forget. Fuck that rematch!
