Neither Nate nor Nick Diaz currently has a fight scheduled in the UFC. Nate recently argued that his contract was "completely f---ed up." Nick says he will only fight for $500,000 or a title shot.

UFC president Dana White had addressed both concerns, saying Nick happily signed the supposedly "f---ed up" contract, and is obligated to fight, and that with back to back losses, Nick was not in line for a title shot, or, presumably $500,000.
Nate was in Baltimore Saturday night to corner YancyMedeiros in his losing effort vs. Jim Miller at UFC 172. At the post-fight press conference, White was asked if he had spoken to Diaz over theweekend?
"I didn't, no," said White. "I think Joe Silva did and Nate said he's ready to fight, so, he told Joe to call him."
White was also asked if he had been in contact with with Nick.
"No Nick. No Nick," said White. "Nick's got a lot of money, man. I think Nick's just going to kick back until he has to fight."
Nick was at the Buffalo Wild Wings I was at last night (in Stockton). He watched the Medeiros fight, took a few pictures with the fans, and left. Didn't hang around for any of the other fights. It was a trip to see Nick to my left and Nate on the big screen. Second time I ran into the dude (also met him and Nate at the Manteca Street Fair) and he was cool both times.
Nate is most definitely underpaid. He's seen the size of Gil's contract and realised how much money he left on the negotiating table.
If I was Nate I'd agree to headline for 15/15 or whatever pittance he's on, then pull out at the last moment. Rinse and repeat until Zuffa agree to let him go.

Or maybe he should honor the contract that he was more than happy with when he signed it 6 months ago. He can't spend Gil's money, so it doesn't do him any good to count it. Do you realize how quickly a fighter's career would end if he pulled out of consecutive fights? Nevada State (and pretty much any other real athletic commission) would never license him again.
I LOVE DIAZ (no homo) - Pay him his fucking money!!
They are, Nate's contract is less than 6 months old. This isn't some 3 year old TUF contract that he has outperformed, it is 1 fight old. You can't sign something claim to be happy with it and then turn around less than a year later and say that it isn't enough. That is retarded.

Wish they would appreciate the opportunity they have and get back in the octagon. I'm sure if they put on a couple good performances Dana will work with them.

I meant Nick apparently Nate is "ready to fight"
Well that is a whole 'nother ball of wax. Nick definitely has inherent value. Maybe he can headline a fight against someone like Lombard or Rory on a FOX card and then assuming that he wins, he can get Hendricks and some PPV money.

Nick and Dana need to get together and hash this thing out just do some negotiating maybe 350 plus incentives or something like that , you'd think it could get worked out.

Nick hasn't won in over 2.5 years, has been suspended in that time period for banned substances, has skipped out on media obligations and had a title fight taken away from him, has lost 2 in a row, and his last win is over a now 145er.
He gets paid $200K to show. If anything, he is way overpaid. He needs to fight and win, unfortunately he's had 2 offers (Condit and Lombard) and seems he's turned both down.

This
You guys are such drama queens. Yes he is 1-2 over his last 3 fights. However to somehow ascribe some importance to the fact that he hasn't won in over 2 years is fucking stupid. What exactly does the length of time mean? If he fought 2 or 3 times a year I would understand that, but he doesn't. He fights maybe once a year. He narrowly lost to a guy whose entire game plan revolved around not engaging him on the feet or on the ground. Condit had never fought like that before so it's not like it would have been something that they would have strategized in camp. It was a poor showing for both fighters. Then he lost to GSP. Holy shit, he lost to the champ. Let's go down the list of people who have wins against Georges: Matt Serra 7 years ago and Matt Hughes 10 years ago. That's the list. So now for the win, does it really matter that the guy he beat is now fighting at 145? Did BJ weigh 145lbs when they fought? Did he struggle with him like Fitch did? Or did he just dominate him? Lastly, is the money. Nick is worth every penny if not more. He was the 2nd highest grossing PPV of GSP's career (his highest is against a guy who now fights at 145lbs) and the most he had in 5 years. It was a bump of almost 30% over the his average. In fact, if you take out both of the Silva rematches, you have to go all the way back to Lesnar vs Carwin to get a higher amount of buys. So no, he is not overpaid. It is ok if you don't like him, you just shouldn't confuse your opinion with fact.
