"Going into this thing ... you're always nervous when you do something new and do something different," he told MMAjunkie.com. "We worked long and hard on this show to make sure this came off with no hitches. I'm very happy to with how it came off. It was perfect. Everything went according to plan. There were literally no hiccups whatsoever.

"It's not easy doing this live. Nobody's even done this before, and it could have gone any more perfect."

MMAjunkie.com was on scene for the debut, which took place at the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas. After 14 taped seasons on Spike TV, the UFC's long-running reality series went to a live format with its move to the FOX-owned FX. With UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and fellow headliner Urijah Faber on hand to scout for next week's team selections, White said they were treated to a stellar night of fights.

And it all started when UFC and FX officials decided to go with one-round fights – instead of the usual two – for the elimination round, which determined 16 official lightweight cast members.

"It wasn't a tough call," White said. "When we came up with the idea, we loved it.

lots of finishes within 1 rd.....

i wouldnt complain

Whatever is all I have to say.

It went pretty well, I think. There were some strange sound level issues I experienced, though.

There were lots of commercials and lots of weird silences. They need an announcer just to fill dead air during the fight imo.

It wasn't that ground breaking considering they do live events twice a month. It was cool though. I still like tuf but this seems like a long way to go just to avoid leaking spoilers. Phone Post

Thought it was great. I enjoyed the live commentary as well. The whole event felt like I was watching a sport (which it is right) instead of the jersey shore. Phone Post

Agreed Phone Post

I thought it was awesome, the commentary, the single round, all of it was excellent. Good work UFC

Agree with this, especially the first part. The awkward silences were a little rough Phone Post

I could barely hear Dominick and Uriah talking, but they were pretty funny. Uriah: "I think this guy will win, he's got a grim reaper tattoo on his shoulder". Phone Post

It doesnt look like a game changer... if the ratings are less than 2 million, it's not worth the extra expense nor investment for anyone involved (ufc, fx and the fans).  one live fight on a friday night isnt destination television...

I doubt tuf live lasts more than 4 seasons (2 years) because it costs too much.  I think It will eventually go back to being taped and moved to fuel.  friday nights on FX will be live fight nights.

If you're going to incur the costs of a live event having one "amateur" fight plus "reality" nonsense deosnt make sense for anyone:  the Fans, UFC, or FX.

FX will get a real live 2 hr destination product plus local targeting (wherever the UFC holds the fight night - if in the states), the UFC will get dollars at the gate, get to target market the brand to local markets (wherever the fight night is held), and feature more than one fight thus building more equity in the fighters on roster... and the fans win by getting more than one fight in exchange for investing their time on a friday night.

Fights were good, but the production was akward.

I liked that a lot!

"He's making Vanilla Ice look bad."

I just watched it off of DVR. That's about the only reasonable way to watch it with all the ads.

The Friday night time slot is awful. That's where networks put shows to die, and for a good reason. I'm either out with my wife or friends on Fridays. They need to put this back to Wednesday night or any day Sunday-Thursday for me to watch it live. Just my 2c.

Dana, please stay aware of the clock.
The last fight of the night started with 4 minutes left on the show.
I don't know if FX cuts it off right at the hour, but even if they don't you have fans which will have DVRed it, and missing the last part of the show could suck epically.
Just need to make sure the last fight will end inside the schedule, plus a couple minutes for a decision.
Beyond that, it was a great show.
The 1 round format was brilliant.
Congrats to all involved. Phone Post

was great

lol octagon mum is quite funny. I never heard 'internet bummer' before but its kinda catchy!

I think putting Anik with Faber and Cruz, and upping their volume, would've been fantastic. Having the two coaches and Dana whispering was frustrating. Phone Post

Definitely needs work still. I'm not sure what Fox or FX have contributed in terms of production, but so far I haven't been blown away by anything on either network. That said, showing the fights live is a fun idea. Phone Post

They should really let you (MMA LOGIC) run the show at Zuffa, you seem to have all of your knowledge and skill set for running tv shows down to a science, I can't believe here you are wasting time on the internet without every major media corporation clambering to hire you.

You should then head over to NBC and fix their terrible lineup as well.

You got to love internet bummers like MMA LOGIC.
