There are multiple threads about the Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock. My question is did it really look that fake, and how fake... I didn't bother watching the event so I am curious what all the hardcores thought about the fight.
Also i read that Patricio put up a good scrap to keep his title and got saved by the bell. Thats sounds sweet
Would you like everyone to come to this thread and repeat themselves? lol
I was embarrassed for Ken, just because I remember what a straight fucking beast he was in his prime. His first attempt at a double? out of the gate was so sloppy I cringed. He gassed himself out going for that choke and got caught.
Still have huge respect for the man. Hopefully it sold a bunch of people on watching that film he's been promoting.
Was not faked. If they were to fake it, I'd assume they would want Kimbo to look good, which he didn't. They both just looked old and out of shape cardio wise. I thought Kimbo was going to tap, but you could tell it was only tight for a short time until Ken gassed and couldn't hold it anymore. Kimbo gets up and blasts him and that's all she wrote.
Hard to tell. Ken has a history of suspicious fights, if he is faking them he's not afraid to take a real punch to sell the work which makes it more believable. If he isn't faking them he has very little heart for a fighter now. He gives up after getting tagged once, Robert Berry dropped him with a jab and he was done. Kimbo cracked him with a good shot but still Ken just gave up right after, he didn't even attempt to recover, he just gave the ref the look to stop it.
Ken made no attempt to finish that submission. He wasn't gassed, the fight just started.
Not fake. Certainly pathetic, and hard to watch, but not fake.
go to you tube and watch the berry-shamrock fight The ending was by far the fakest punch ive ever seen.Shamrock has done many dives including this fight last night.Yes he took a punch its called selling the fight.
I mean it didnt look as fake as him flopping against franklin, but it did look sketchy to some people. i guess its because they cant believe that a fighter with grappling credentials couldnt finish a simple choke.
it might have just been a case of a 51 year old against a 40 something year old street fighter tho... i means, its not like they are even close to their primes.
Shamrock did not have good technique IMO and he still almost got it. If he put his left hand behind Kimbo's head instead of on top of it he would have had a lot more pressure. Or as others have said switch to the Gable grip. I don't think it was intentional as much as he was just emotional. He said himself in the post fight interview he was going too fast trying to get the choke. And he's fucking 51. At this point it's like his whole life is at elevation. He can't push that hard for very long. Honestly that people think he intentionally threw the fight just reinforces my belief that the majority of mma fans are retarded. Obviously it could have happened but I see no evidence in the fight itself. Once again, cognitive dissonance. There's just no way Kimbo was supposed to do anything other than tap immediately if Shamrock got him on the ground. So to rationalize what happened they make up this fantasy where Shamrock threw the fight intentionally to make money from some mob boss somewhere.
Definitely fake

you actually make a solid case, people were quick to call foul play but if that was really the case then why did the fight go down as it did?
if they wanted a work for ken, why didnt kimbo just tap as soon as he felt the choke? if they wanted kimbo to win, then why was ken spamming td? he should have kept it standing and let himself get his ass whopped by kimbo if that was the case...
i feel like it was just a horrible fight.

no they had to sell the work it and make it exciting
It was a goddamn joke
It looked fake to me, I can't imagine Ken with 30 years of grappling experience doesn't know how to apply an RNC to an opponent who is doing literally nothing to defend.
