Tomato Can - It is still beyond my comprehension why Griggs/Overeem is on the main card. Who in the universe is remotely interested in that turd over the Wilcox/JZ fight?
Really weird decision. My only guess why is that Griggs x Valentijn is the HW reserve match and JZ lost to Josh last time out. Plus, it will probably be a quick finish one way or the other.
And thanks Jeff Dubs.
I think that's exactly the reason. Valentijn Overeem has now been booked for 2 main card fights and they can't even get Cris Cyborg a fight and sent Sarah Kaufman back to challengers...wow.
Great work as always D Dub.
Thank you sir.
You like any dogs for this one?
Wilcox. Favorite bet on the card.
I also may throw a couple bucks on Rogers. Barnett hasn't fought in the U S and A for a very long time and hasn't faced a live body in a VERY long time.
Oldereem vs Griggs is on the main card over Wilcox/JZ for one simple reason, it's a 'HW GP' card and it is a HW GP fight, alternate, but it's still a part of the HW GP, plus JZ vs Wilcox is a great fight main fight for the HDNet portion
Throw in that both Overeem and Griggs won on the main card there last fights for the HW GP, Griggs with 2 in a row with the Lasley fight

Why would a scrub fight like that be part of the GP? Even as an alternate it makes no sense, Overeem is a complete journeyman.

Um, because it is? I don't know what to tell you besides that, Overeem and Griggs both won there first HW GP alternate fights, that's why they are fighting again
smth416 - anyone else take a chance on Monson +325?
Few live dogs on this card.
Cormier should win this IMO, he will keep it standing and should beat Monson, but he has tried late in a couple of his fights, Monson can try and pull guard/half guard and get a sweep, monson on top can sub Cormier
Tomato Can - That just raises more questions. Why the hell would a scrub fight like Griggs/Overeem by the "HW reserve match" over Monson/Cormier?
I'd rather see Wilcox/JZ over Masvidal/Noons as well. I really just cannot get myself to give a single fuck about KJ Noons.
Well, for whatever reason, Monson and Cormier weren't part of the tournament brackets.
Disagree on Noons x Jorge though ... I'm amped for that fight, and the winner is guaranteed a shot at Melendez, so that's a bank for the main.
Well of course Monson and Cormier weren't part of the brackets, but neither were Griggs and Overeem, were they?
Even though I'm guessing you won't be pleased with it, the answer is yes, the Valentijn/Sefo and Villante/Griggs bouts were clearly announced as the reserve HW GP brackets.
I seem to recall some stink over why Cormier wasn't in the tourney, and I'm also pretty sure Monson wasn't even under contract with SF when the GP started.

He's not really even a dog though. The lines have from +110 to even to the favorite in some cases.

I completely agree that Cormier should be favored, but Monson's as high +365 and IMO the best fighter to throw a few chance-bucks at.
Cormier has shown all the potential in the world, but the best fighter he's faced by miles is Devin Cole. Monson's crafty as shit, a good boxer, a D1 wrestler, and a sub-master with unreal experience.
Well lookie thar...Jordan Breen peeping in this thread and ripping my picks!
This is from his live chat, which is a good follow to talk about fights. Sherdog's roundtable preview shows (starts at 3 EST) are also excellent.

Comment From Ben from New York
I love Griggs at -130, do you agree?

Jordan Breen:
Love the line. Griggs started as low as -115, too. Valentijn Overeem tends to tap or bow out the minute someone puts offense on him, and we've seen first-hand what a gamer Griggs is, and that he has more actual skill than advertised. I think any MMA gambler has to be all over that line.

Justin Wilcox as a slight dog isn't bad betting either.
