DISSECTION: Analysis of Strikeforce Prelims, Main

I don't agree with everything you said but, as usual, FUCKING AWESOME analysis my fren!

Good to see your faculties are still all together ;)

ttt for UJ's breakdowns

These breakdowns inspired me (a pathological lurker) to not only register and post on these forums, but also resume a daily perusal of Bloody Elbow content.

Kudos to you, UJ.

Many thanks to RuleDogg, Haulie, and Damn Severn for the support.

I had to quote up this comment for sure though. I can be an arrogant prick on the forum, but hearing shit like this is genuinely flattering. It wasn't too long ago that every article I tried to post on the UG sank like a stone, and the only comments were pretty cruel jabs.

It honestly means a lot sir, thank you very much.

Tomato Can - It is still beyond my comprehension why Griggs/Overeem is on the main card. Who in the universe is remotely interested in that turd over the Wilcox/JZ fight?

Really weird decision. My only guess why is that Griggs x Valentijn is the HW reserve match and JZ lost to Josh last time out. Plus, it will probably be a quick finish one way or the other.

And thanks Jeff Dubs.

I think that's exactly the reason.  Valentijn Overeem has now been booked for 2 main card fights and they can't even get Cris Cyborg a fight and sent Sarah Kaufman back to challengers...wow.

Great work as always D Dub.

Thank you sir.

You like any dogs for this one?

Wilcox.  Favorite bet on the card.

I also may throw a couple bucks on Rogers.  Barnett hasn't fought in the U S and A for a very long time and hasn't faced a live body in a VERY long time.

He's not really even a dog though. The lines have from +110 to even to the favorite in some cases.

If you are talking the big underdogs, not really.  They are bringing in Monson to lose.  I think Overeem is probably going to crush Werdum...may take a flyer on Rogers if I'm bored not having any action on the big fights.  I'll be unloading on Griggs.

^Interesting. These would be my underdog choices, and in this order:

1. Werdum + 305

2. Monson +365

3. Wilcox +110

4. Masvidal +135

And I'd pass on Rogers. Realistically, Werdum and Monson are so slanted that they're worth a shot, and I actually think Werdum is going to win.

When's the last Werdum fight he hasn't gotten dropped in?  It happens every fight.  He's now fighting the best striker in MMA.  I think he's toast.

I think Monson has no shot vs Cormier, he is being brought in to lose.  Being 5'8 doesn't really lend itself to submissions from the bottom where he is going to be.

Yet he's only been KOd once by a then-unknown JDS.

Conversely, when's the last time Alistair fought someone on his level? I'd say Sergei ...  4 years ago. Werdum's stand up has improved drastically as well.

Oh, and I forgot to add Conor Heun to my good underdog list.

Magno is an exciting prospect, but c'mon ... I can't believe he's favored.

Why wouldn't Almeida be favored? His last 2 opponents were at least as good as Heun and he finished them both.

^I'm not too high on Mike "Look I Barely Beat Yves" Campbell. I'd put Malyutin up there, but he has extremely questionable losses to match his impressive wins.  Plus, Heun might be the most comparable submission/BJJ caliber that Almeida's faced in addition to being the most well rounded.

I'm actually more fascinated by your record string of crabby questions in this thread, and in the midst of calculating the over/under on how long it will continue.

My crabbiness will continue indefinitely!!

Not really saying that Campbell or Malyutin are all that, but I'm just not that high on Heun. I think Almeida is a class above. We shall see, I suppose.

^Yeah, I totally agree. I think I'm kinda high on Heun after fighting so impressively against Noons on such short notice. Plus, he's been training at Jackson's for this fight.

 OH MY FUCK

So, Leland Rolling still does all the big fights on BE, so I spent all morning typing up a long, detailed analysis of Overeem vs. Werdum with about 13 gifs, and when uploading the screen cap of the betting odds just before leaving my prediction, my browser froze and I lost everything.

So there's about 6 hours right down the shitter.

Anyway, I'm taking Werdum for the upset.

You'd think my left testicle would appease them for a while.

Sorry for your loss! It's the worst bullshit imaginable, but that's how this racket works.

When I was 10 I was writing this story called 'Two Week Horror.' It was about how my grandfather was trying to kill me. It was my first big production, I got about 30 pages into it and somebody stole half of it at lunch time in school, right out of my desk. It STILL hurts.

Anyway we're all missing out. I was looking forward to the read...

Writing 30 pages at the age of 10 really speaks volumes about what a lovable fruit loop you are. My most esteemed novels in elementary school were 3 pages.

Well my hard work as a prepubescent scribe paid off last year when I was FINALLY able to receive telepathic instructions from lizard alien Paul Mcartney on how to make my writing BETTER. I mean call me a fruitloop and all but I'm just about getting SKILLz, which lizard Paul has so helped with with, bro.
