Eddie learned Rubber Guard from...

At least I get techniques right when I steal them.

Amen.

I get techniques wrong when I steal them. But since I rename each technique I steal, it's easy for me to insist that my "eel-blender" submission is done my specific way. If somebody else has previously done something similar but with better technique, then good for them -- it's still not my famed "eel-blender," which I alone came up with.

Wow.  Just wow.

wow this guy and aesopian need to hookup.

We just filmed a submission grappling series with Robert Drysdale. There is one whole DVD on the rubber guard. Robert feels that the most common mistake made with this position is that people are trying to work the position when the opponent's arms are on the belly. He says it can work, but it is a huge problem and limits many options and variations. It is also very easy for an opponent to defend the position when the arms are in the wrong place. On his DVD, he really explains these issues and corrects the problems. Robert felt that there is a lot of Rubber Guard material on the market and much of it is not taught using the best technique. The DVD will cover many fundamentals of the position and mechanics to boot. When I look at the Simco clip, I now see all of the problems that Robert addresses. I of course did not know most of this stuff myself and I learned a lot filming the set. One of the perks!

Simco evidently begs to differ with Drysdale on that.

Did you get approval from Eddie before Drysdale used the Rubber Guard?

Afterall, who is Robert Drysdale and what has he accomplished?

ps-
I know who he is

wtf

And why does this Simco character not just do a regular Kimura? Why the "reverse" Kimura? I don't think we need to make jiu-jitsu that hard.

ttt

great stuff.

The reverse kimura is actually pretty useful for attacking a 'stalling' posture where the guy clamps his arms down tight on your sides and holds the biceps.

That said, it's unclear to me why Master Simco choose to use it here. Perhaps his star pupil, Shen, can elucidate for us.

Paul what's did he cover? and when will these be out?

Maybe a regular kimura was too obvious in this situation. Not enough pazazz!

Plus, as we all know, anything in "reverse" must be better. It is reversed!

The DVDs will be out soon. Possibly in the next 4-6 weeks. There are six as usual, and we covered this sort of new game most of these guys are doing. Attacking for submission as to position always being the focus. There are 2 DVDs on attacking the back position, 1 on the Rubber Guard, and 1 the no gi Brabo choke, Anaconda and D'Arce choke (Robert does not refer to it as D'Arce in the DVDs). Robert also does a lot of counter attacks. The whole set is 99% submissions. I actually believe that this will be our most popular no gi series ever. Even more so then Garcia and Saulo. More to come...

if i'm not mistaken, joe moriera shows the rev. kimura in a lot of his books/tapes.  i've never taken the time to make it work... when i do, i seem to lose the grip easily.

The reverse kimura is real, although uncommon.

It may be real, but not the way that Simco guy uses it.
