That tape is worn out like my old VHS porns

Samspon was super in college and good pro.I saw him in NYC tallest guy Ive ever stood near

I think McHale thought they had a foul to give.

That was the golden era of the NBA for me. Every Sunday morning had an NBA game which was great but it was always the Celtics and Lakers with a sprinkle of the Knicks and 76’ers. Really violent but great basketball.

I met him at UCLA once. He was roughly my vintage.

He listed himself at 6’11 but was said to be taller, and looked taller.

It was some kind of psychological ploy I guess.

If he hadn’t had horrible foot and ankle injuries he may have been one of the greatest pro centers in history. As it was, he was probably the 2nd greatest all time college center.

The guy knew how to win when he was healthy. He learned how to play from the best…John Wooden.

.

So here's the obvious question: Why did Sampson punch Sichting in the first place? Little dude was guarding the big man like he was supposed to and that big sumbitch just whacked him for seemingly no reason.

Props to the little guy for taking it right back to Sampson.

That looks like Kurt Rambis. I’m sure the retribution was classic.

Sichting was pushing him and was known to play rough which Sampson hated he was a finesse player

My mom and uncle dropped acid at the Forum and saw the dead in the early 90s. They met Bill. Obviously blew their minds.

Solid takedown, bad ending position

There is NO WAY he was 6' 11". I am 6' 3" plus and was dwarfed, kinda literally.

Sampson threw some decent punches for the NBA. He landed clean on two different guys before tangling up with Walton. Sampson vs Manute in a 50ft ring would have been a great boxing match.

I dont want to see that awkward 7 foot gork all tripped out and deadhead dancing in a ratty tie dye with a string of drool down his chin. Although many here probably do.

Yep. I’ve seen plenty of pics of him standing right next to Jabbar (Alcindor at the time). Walton was every bit as tall…if not taller. Jabbar listed at 7’1".

Sampson landed on three different Celtics; good solid ones.  He also gave Walton some rub for the takedown.  Ralph > Celtics.

I always thought it was Walton at 7 foot.  Wilt at 7'1" and Jabbar at 7'2" and Sampson at 7'4".

Jabbar looks a bit taller in this picture.
