Even in sparring JDS hasn't learned

To keep his hands up. His last fight against Cain was unbearable to watch. I've never seen a guy not know how to block punches to the face. Then is the recent Primetime, he's sparring with his hands down. Now he claims he can beat the Klitschko's. My god the JDS!!! Also are there any other threads about how bad JDS defense is? Why not UG?? Phone Post

While having your hands down in MMA may leave you vulnerable to strikes, doesn't it help with defending takedowns? Something that happens to be Cain's biggest strength.

Did he act the same way when he fought Mark Hunt?

If so he may just have too much confidence in his chin, and striking ability.

JDS is like Chuck. Major confidence in his chin, and he keeps his hands low to keep the fight standing.

You ever try taking someone down who had both arms down by there waist ready to defend it? It is far from easy. Phone Post

Problem is he s a heavyweight, so even with a beast chin almost anybody could clip it Phone Post 3.0

Didn't Cain drop him because his hands were so low? Phone Post 3.0

If his distancing is good, he can get away with having his hands down too. Phone Post 3.0

He wouldn't be top 10 in HW Boxing.

He is absolutely deluded.

disbeliever - Will be interesting to see if he learned anything from last fight. Cain's standup has gotten very good recently. It isn't just the takedown JDS needs to worry about.

cain may not have been able to KO JDS last time, but he beat the shit out of him and hurt him.

"Cain's standup has gotten very good recently."
Especially his headbutts.

Junior needs them there partially because it helps defend against the shot. Similar to what Anderson was doing to Weidman.

That being said, he's still more than likely going to lose. Cain is just a more well-conditioned and multi-dimensional fighter and ultimately that will make the difference between the two. Be it on the feet or on the ground.

JimmersonzGlove - Cains gonna make it look easier than the 2nd fight. Phone Post

?

Can't believe he still thinks he can beat those guys. Phone Post 3.0

If he thinks he can beat Wladimir Klitschko he better start working on his clinching... its more of a wrestling match then a fucking boxing fight with that guy

Fighters also tend to lower their hands to draw/lure opponents in. Doesn't mean you don't know how to box, Roach coaches fighters this way who are comfortable with it. Phone Post 3.0

It's not boxing... It's not supposed to look like boxing. Keep your hands over your head like a Thai boxer while the best HW wrestler in MMA is standing in front of you. Not smart. Keep his hands low, encourages Cain to strike, not to shoot for TD's. It's pretty normal.

JDS knows what he is doing.

I think it is more a mark of the counter striker. I have no UFC traneing whatsoever but have noticed classic counter strikers often have their hands low and use footwork and head/body movement to evade the first shots. Watch for that next time someone of high caliber fights with their hands low. I might also be completely wrong and in left field with this too.
