Every Tyson Fight

Chaelismyhero -
EddiePain420 - mike tyson was a fucking destroyer under custamato, tyson was bat shit crazy his whole life and cus was the one who could tame him.

after cus died tyson went back to being bat shit crazy and it was downhill from there.

that is why we all say 1980's mike tyson best boxer to ever live.Custamato is probably the only person to ever truley love mike.

Cus died one year into Mike's career I think. So Rooney and Teddy had him under control for a while.

And he still beat several top guys in the 90's

Yeah...

Tyson was still a force even though he was no longer as good as he once was. It took a skilled boxer who were also very mentally tough (Holyfield)to beat him, until the 2000's when he was pretty much done both mentally and physically.

Just gonna leave a few of my fav Tyson vids here (from highlight to some great parts of documentary's).

Great documentary, but at 47:15 Spinks coach comes in to check Tyson's gloves, and he gives my favorite description of what it was like to fight Tyson:

Most people also don't know that Cus Damoto's favorite author was Norman Mailer. Norman mailer while filming a movie in the late 60's bit off a chunk of his co-stars ear out of anger.

Evander was repeatedly headbutting Tyson in both fights, and Tyson said "if you want to make it a street fight we can make it a street fight." That's where it came from, not because he's crazy.

Often overlooked fact.

Also, Evander and Mills Lane were buddies.

Nah, that was just Tyson all over. Many of his fights leading up to that had had him do some dirty/illegal stuff - going after Savarese even when the ref was trying to stop him, trying to break Botha's arm, etc. Tyson was a gifted athlete and boxer, but he was mentally weak and the ear biting was just a symptom of that.

Had to bump this to let you know day by day I'm going to try and repay all the VU received in this thread. It's gonna take some time as I am just a mud, but I've got a few under the belt already. Also in case anyone didn't get a chance to enjoy this thread the first time around can now do so.
Thanks to all

Tyson had a couple of incidents like the ones you mentioned where he kind of "lost it" and used poor judgement in the ring. But Tyson was NOT known as a "dirty" fighter. Tyson didn't have to fight dirty, he had his 2 fists.

Holyfield on the other hand was a notoriously "dirty" fighter. He was a throwback to old-school boxers in that he was incredibly tough, and also knew all the little tricks to gain an edge.

Its funny, Tyson and Holyfield even laugh about it on an episode of Tyson's show. Tyson says something about Holyfield being a dirty fighter, and Holyfield laughs and agrees.

I'll see if I can find a clip later.

OK that clip wasn't exactly what I remembered, both Mike and Evander discuss headbutting and Mike says Evander beat him at that game. There are other quotes of Evander talking about fighting dirty, saying that it's normal.

But there is a GREAT spot in this video where Evander talks about how Tyson changed after Kevin Rooney and became more predictable.

Check it out at 13:00 in.... GREAT STUFF, and pertains to this ongoing conversation!
