First time EVER Brazil cheering against their own?

Is Rousey vs Bethe going to be the first fight ever where Brazil roots against the Brazilian fighter?

I know there's been a few times where a Brazilian fighter does something during a fight that causes the crowd to turn on him, will this be the first time they root against the home fighter from the beginning of the fight?

No.

They will be cheering Bethe. Phone Post 3.0

Brazilians cheer for their own soccer team even when they own-goal themselves.

I was at a match at Maracana in Rio and this happened. The Brazilian/Latino mentality is hilarious sometimes; in their mind they can do no wrong, ever. It explains the state of, well, everything in their country.

So what? You make it sound like a bad thing to be behind your country. Phone Post 3.0

Nope.

Ronda has a few fans there, no doubt. Werdum did in Mexico City as well. But when push comes to shove, They'll be cheering for Bethe Phone Post 3.0

So what? So a lot of things.

"Yeah, we scored on ourselves, horray Brasil!"

"Yeah, we have even more murders than last year, way to go Brasil!"

Brazilians are proud of themselves to a fault.

Brazil is a dangerous, dirty, corrupt, third world dump.

I now live in Mexico and it's the same way. They are proud as hell of their country, but they have yet to learn how to pave a road, build a water or sewage system, keep their cops/mayor/governor from robbing them blind, or prevent more people from being murdered and going missing than Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

Anyway, I won't go on. Latinos get fucking furious when you point out their flaws. Other cultures listen, learn, and fix. Brazilians cheer no matter what.

Of course they'll keep supporting their team despite an own goal. Nobody cheered an own goal, you probably didn't understand which supporters that belonged to which team.

The stadium is separated in half. One team's supporters on one side, the other team's supporters on the other side.

One team's supporters take the subway to the match, the other team's supporters take the streets.

There are two separate entrances, on directly opposite sides of the stadium. The entrance closest to the subway is for one team, the entrance closest to the bus terminal is for the other team.

There are police which are stationed around the 'halfway point', and they tell supporters of either team to stay on their side.

I saw a poor fellow who happened to wander into the opposing team's side outside Maracana. His jersey was ripped off rape style by a group of men, and then they held his face in front of a garbage can while the guy who held the torn jersey slammed it down into the can. They then punched and kicked him a few times as he scuttled away.

All this in front of three policemen on horses. The mounted police, by the way, are armed with wooden swords, and they smack indiscriminately in order to keep people 'on their side' and in line. The poor guy went off his side, and the police did nothing.

During the match, in front of me in the stands (by the way, you cannot sit, only stand, because everyone else is standing, and you in fact stand on the seat in front of you), I saw a man get kicked in the head by supporters of his own team. Whether accident, or drunken buffonery, or whatever, he motioned towards the policemen that were stationed nearby. The police approached the victim, and then pepper sprayed him, and everybody else in vicinity. Up where I was I asked my Brazilian escorts "Do they typically spray the victims?" "They spray EVERYONE!!!!" they responded.

I found out the "They spray EVERYONE" thing first hand once the match ended. It's a complete disaster trying to exit the arena after the game. Unless you want to sit in your seat for two hours, you have to go through 'the gauntlet'. Supporters of the winning team form a 'stampede', where they do a giant 'conga line', and run around the perimeter of the stadium, pushing and stomping everyone in their way.

As I finally reached the exit ramp, police peppersprayed into the air, affecting everyone, in a way to say "Get the fuck out, game is over".

Maracana, March 2005.

So yes, Hard Gay, I understand.

Additionally...you fucking shithead for calling me out.....

I went to a match in Belo Horizonte.

There is a moat around the stadium. A deep and wide indentation that separates the crowd from the pitch.

Towards the end of the match, a man ran down from the upper stands and managed to leap across onto the pitch. He then ran straight up to the referee and attacked him.

Then, all the players attacked the man, and eventually the police came and took off the dude in a stretcher after the players had beat him up sufficiently.

Brazil is a fucked up place. All Latin American countries are fucked up. The main reason? Their bravado and pride. They can do no wrong, have never made a mistake, and everything bad that happens is the result of bad luck, foreigners, or God's will.

Well, this thread went a different direction real quick. Phone Post 3.0

Whining about standing at the game and supporters celebrating? You should stay at the nacho-eating contest that is attending a baseball game, fatty.

Whom are you standing up for? Bethe Correia? Brazilians?

I would normally say "I hope you get whacked by a wooden sword, peppersprayed, and then taken out back and given the typically treatment by Brazilian (off-duty) cops"

But instead I'll say:

Come to this location:

22.887758 -109.914771

This location is within 15 metres of my home. Everyone within this vicinity knows who I am. You don't speak Spanish? Just say "El Guero Bonito".....they'll know me.

It's about a 2.5 hour flight from LA.

I'll show you just how fat I am.

Did you see the mini survey mmafighting did? 90% of ppl asked chose Ronda over bethe. This will be very interesting. Phone Post 3.0

I am surprised its not closer to 99% you have to be delusional to think she could win.

HeHitsMeBecauseHeLovesMe - They will be cheering Bethe. Phone Post 3.0
I wasn't wrong technically, they cheered Bethe. They just cheered a lot more for Ronda. That's just weigh-in's though, we'll see tomorrow. Phone Post 3.0

octowussy - Are people saying dumb shit like this because Dana said it? There's zero chance Brazil does not support Bethe.
They were going crazy for Ronda at the weigh-in. Much louder reception than Bethe, which probably stung pretty bad. Phone Post 3.0

Brazilian's love blonds.
