Flexibility/Mobility program for MMA

Anyone got any good links or resources?

Baz

I tried to send a PM but you're only accepting them from pros and friends.

Have changed setting to accept anyone.

stretching/flexibility with jumpstretch bands helped me tremendously, much more than any other method.

here is how it looks (except i can't do full split the way hartzell is doing it:)

and some exercises by Steve Maxwell.

Tom Kurtz has a new product, which i dont have, but all his products are very good

disclaimer - all above is purely based on my experience, and somebody else may experience it in very different way

Off the top of my head:

You want to stretch your hamstrings and adductors to make you a bit of leeway in some leg locks (knee bars, etc).

You want to improve internal shoulder rotation (kimura), and also work on t-spine mobility and properly seating your humerus in it's socket to help with external rotation (americana).

I think that's mainly it. Most other submissions attack ligaments rather than tendons, and there's not too much you can do to protect them other than learn good sub defence.

But there are plenty of people who know more about submission fighting than me, so take it with a grain of salt.

Not sure that there is an MMA specific stretching routine.

For me it just makes sense to practice your strength training with control, through max ROM, and include a comprehensive total-body stretching program. If you find there are glaring issues with your flexibility (which are not structural or caused by severe injury etc)) than work on those areas.

Leigh,

I agree that squats do not need to be a2g. Again, it's my fault for not being more clear.

My basic approach with folks is that they use the maximum ROM that they can control, and is pain free. So... when I said full ROM, like everything else, it's personal.

Here is a clip of my own solo training for Jiu Jitsu. Good stuff for mobility and body connection...

Zero1,

Cool stuff. I am not a fan of using the stability ball for mma bjj drills (I know some folks love it). Otherwise the stuff you are doing looks very good.
