FloorBag Workout?

Im looking for examples of "FloorBag Workout" - Mark Hatmaker? I train alone some nights & was thinking this would be a good addition to my routine, i'llmost likely buy the dvd anyway but if anyone has seen it maybe you could post a few idea's of the exercises?? Thanks in advance

Regards

nocuout,

First off, let me say, anything by Mark Hatmaker is a top-notch product IMO.

There are some grip/bodylock exercises, lift work, shouldering, pressing, swinging, shuffling with the bag on your shoulder, + some more but I can't recall all of them off the top of my head.

Then he talks about using the bag to improve your riding and pressure skills, positional transitions, and upper body controls like cross faces, head hooks, groin spikes, cow bites...all kinds of nasty stuff.

This tape is really a two for one deal, b/c it not only teaches conditioning drills, but actually teaches proper ground control...excellent instruction for a beginner, and even someone who is more experienced can pick up a few tricks.

Then he covers ground and pound, how to use the bag for certain sweeps and submission drills, hamburger rides and transitions (knee on face). Then he puts it all together and recommends u just flow with the bag, like u would with a partner...basically riding it hard and pounding the crap out of it.

If you do the exercises for the 3 minute rounds that he recommends, you will get a KICK-ASS workout, and improve your basic skills at the same time. Definitely worth the money, I hope you agree when you get it.

Also, you'll be able to come up with some ideas of your own and the "floor bag" might become one of your favorite pieces of equipment.

P.S. He has a "Floor Bag 2" coming out sometime this year I believe.

Get the DVD, it's great for general conditioing and technique drilling. First, Hatmaker goes over a lot of drills then shows the technique, so its kinda of two topics in one tape.
bag shooting- simulate shooting in on the bag while its standing on end. I do this one alot, I will balance the bag and shoot in hitting it with my shoulder and drive it to the floor.

control position drill- I began by throwing the bag on the floor and go into either a mount or side mount etc. Then simply switch from each position like scarf hold to north and south then work your way around the head etc.

Arm bar drill- this is a good drill for metabolic workouts, from a mount on the bag, plant both hands on bag, and perform a straight arm bar, then turn into bag, making sure your closest knee hits the bag, this simulates the opponent trying to turn into you, remount and perform reps.

I hope these are clear enough instructions.

Where would I find this DVD? I train by myself at least two times a week and this is the kind of workout I want to do.

i do the same workout with the heavybag that I have. (70 lbs). I am trying to work on a quick, controlled transition from side mount, knee on belly, scarf hold going to the other side quickly and repeating.
I really try to make an effort of keep my knees in close, with my weight on the bag. Visualizing controlling my opponent.

3-5 min of this will really get you going. The closest thing to sparring without actually sparring
