The signing of CM Punk remains controversial. and likely will until he fights decently. In the mean time, figures in the sport continue to weigh in on both side. Yesterday, Cole Miller said CM Punk had a better ground game than half the fighters in the UFC. Today comes word from Don Frye that it's a pip dream.

“I thought he pulled out like 4 hours after he signed the contract," said Frye. "I thought maybe the common sense fairy came by and tapped him on his shoulder and said 'hey dumbass, this isn’t WWE'. I mean god damn it, who's that big blonde fairy who has the belt for the WWE - from North Dakota, or South Dakota, or one of them. East Dakota? The Minnesota Viking. What’s his name? Yeah Lesnar. Yeah he found out real fast. He was supposed to be god's answer to Satan, or Satan's answer to Christ, and he found out real fast that’s not the place to be. He got hit, and man it changed his - he wanted to back, go to work in McDonalds.”
Punk has said he will be training at Roufusport, and hope to fight towards the end of 2015. Frye was asked if he thought Punk could earn the requisite skills in that time.
“No," he said. "No, I think it’s a pipe dream, you know. It’s a pipe dream. Back when this thing first started out, you know everybody likes to compare the difference; and everybody when they first started, everybody was a world champion. One, or two, or three, or four, or five times world champion at whatever style they were, you know. Or a 10 time national wrestling champ. They had all been doing it for 10, 15, 20 years. And somebody just can’t sit there watching the show on the couch eating Fritos and say 'hey I think I can do this'. Nah you’re an idiot. You’re going to get hurt and you to deserve to get hurt for thinking that way.”
.... Brock won the UFC title and defended it. What exactly did he find out other than with limited training he became the best heavyweight on the planet (well atleast in the UFC at the time)

Come on. Lesnar had some success. It was a good story. But let's be honest here. After he started fighting the top guys, shew. He took the worse three fight beating we've seen. That being said, I'm pulling for Brock. I'm not a wwe or wwf fan, whatever you call it, but I like seeing comeback stories and underdogs. Which is why I'm also pulling for punk. Can't stand the hate he's getting bc he wants to test himself against the most dangerous men on the planet. It should be respect.

Brock found out that even with his extraordinary physical gifts and wrestling skill that you can't fight for long without getting hit. He also found out that he didn't like it.
Hate to say it but Brock would absolutely destroy prime Frye so not the best example for him to use. Brock and Punk are worlds apart anyway, Brock was a super athletic monster with a strong wrestling base.
brock became heavyweight champion of the UFC. albeit, he did so in a very shallow time for the division, and at a time when fedor was still arguably the best HW in the world, but brock beat heath herring, frank mir, randy couture, and shane carwin when they were the top guys in the UFC heavyweight division.
Brock was also a huge heavyweight. Guy was cutting down to 265 and then throwing on another 20 pounds. Between size, wrestling, and just his freak athleticism he was a monster. Punk doesn't have any of that going for him.
Bautista would've been a much better example. Pre-diverticulitis Brock was an absolute nightmare. I still wish that fight with Fedor materialized. I think Fedor would've beaten him, but the build-up would've been crazy

And at heavyweight, guys have bigger holes in their games typically than you would ever find at 170-185

I'm not a Lesnar hater at all, but he did win at a time when the HW division was thin. Not his fault, and to be quite honest the HW division has always been thin with a few exceptions.
Heath was a journeyman, randy a drastically undersized HW that won the title from Tim (a guy who was himself champion in a very weak division). Shane was manhandling brock until he badly gassed out. Again - props to Brock for being better conditioned and weathering the storm.

Only impressive win by Brock is Carwin IMO and he got saved by the bell in round one, after that he subbed a gassed out Carwin.
Herring's a journeyman, Couture gave up at least 40 lbs and Mir was helpless once his guard stopped working. As soon as Brock faced a real threat in Cain and Overeem it was all over.
Huge athletic talent though and if he got into the sport sooner who knows what he might have achieved.

Do you actually watch the fights, or just parrot what other people say.
Brock turned shit around in the last minute of the first round against against Carwin after Shane got worn out from punching Brock's forearms.
Mir and Couture were UFC HW Champions when Brock was playfighting in a male soap opera. Brock, after the age of 30, trained for less than 2 years and beat both of those champions.
Stop trying to discredit the man. He was a force of nature during his run.
So Brock beat guys that had been training in MMA for YEARS longer than he did, but they weren't quite the best heavyweights ever, so it's no big deal really. Except the point Frye is making is that a "WWE" guy would come into the UFC (no matter how historically great any division is) and get his dick kicked in. Well, Brock didn't get his dick kicked in...he beat the shit out of 4 guys that had spent their lives training MMA and two guys that had won the UFC HW title at one point in their careers. If you can't digest that then you're too stupid to debate with.
Bobby Lupo - Brock beat 4 UFC champions while digesting his own shit inside his gut.
Take the bottle away from Magnum PI
Frye's fight it Takayama was faker than anything Brock did in WWF
I disagree with Frye on Lesnar, since Lesnar DID beat serious competitors and has proved he was a Top10 HW, hell Top5 probably.
But who are YOU to diss Frye like that? You might disagree with his opinion, but to say "Frye's fight it Takayama was faker than anything Brock did in WWF"???
