FX IS A BUNCH OF MORONS...BOXING IS DEAD..

FX's latest drama series Lights Out premiered to mostly disappointing ratings last night. The boxing drama starring Holt McCallany, which had gotten strong reviews, averaged 1.5 million viewers, 793,000 of them in the adults 18-49 demographic. The audience was a bit below last year's premiere of the now-defunct FX dramedy Terriers (1.6 million, 659,000 in 18-49), which at the time marked the lowest-rated drama series debut for FX, though Lights Out did better in the demo. Marketing can't be blamed this time - there were no dogs, and the posters made it clear this is a boxing series.

HAD IT BEEN ABOUT MMA THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE DEMOGRAPHIC THEY WANTED.

0/10. You'll get bites tho... Phone Post

Boxing is still more popular than MMA. So how can boxing be dead? They get more PPV buys than the UFC has ever had consistently.

NOT IN PPV BUYS, ANCILLARY MARKETS OR IN THE 18-49 DEMO...

I dunno bout no ratins... but I thought it was a pretty good tv show

Boxing lives! You hating piece of shit

I started out doing MMA years ago, so I guess I can say I'm pretty unbiased in terms of martial arts.

The more I learn about boxing the more i realize it's one of the most under-appreciated sports in the world

Yeah I just seen that the PPV buys are a little different now then they used to be. But if you look at the all time highest number of boxing PPV buys compared to the UFC's all time PPV buys, there is a big difference. Boxing's ratings have come down in the recent years but the sport is by no means dead.

kanodogg - Yeah cause look at all those cinematic masterpieces that you call mma movies, top notch shit. <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

Leave Blood Sport alone

very good show

Yeah because that boxing movie "The Fighter" was a real bomb, that generated zero buzz and proved that boxing is dead.....especially when compared to the smashing mainstream success that was "Redbelt" lol

But Brock will be going back to WWE so after TUF... MMA is dead?

It was a great first episode. I hope the series does well.

LOL @ a series about a great white American boxer. They might as well had a series about a Mexican playing center for the Celtics.

Billy Butcher - I was considering watching the show...until I saw a boxer pull off a spinning back fist in the preview.

Because a boxer past his prime crossing over into MMA is unheard of, right?

What did Toney get? 400k or something, right?

How much could Mercer have gotten for any of his fights?

Max

I love MMA, but since I was a little kid boxing was always the sport to watch at my house and never ever ever in my life has someone pulled a spinning backfist in a high profile type fight.

It's illegal and way more obvious than an elbow or a headbutt

I know that, I'm just saying I've never even seen someone try to pull it off anyway.

boxing is a worldwide sport, no one besides america, japan, canada cares about mma. boxing is where there real talent and money is.
