This has got to be a joke, if people are looking to use jiu jitsu in MMA then who should we follow the countless sport jiu jitsu guys the try MMA and get their faces pushed in or the guy who hasn't lost in about a decade using his own style of wrestling jiu jitsu. Beating guys like condit, Henderson, Daley, and Miller says something about how your fighting. I can honestly at it's not for me, I need to use technique and leverage and base with my jiu jitsu because I am so old however if you have the speed and agility of Jake then his style is amazing for MMA.
I also think Jake should stay at 185. I really think he would give Anderson fits. Imagine if Chael had any jiu jitsu, imagine if Travis Lutter was not so depleted, imagine if Henderson tried to pass and take mount, all things Jake is great at. GSP is a bad match, his ground is similar to shields and his stand up is light years better.

Either way, Helio received his black belt form Carlos. This is undisputed.

Of course it is a disputed issue. They learned Judo from Count Maeda. The whole it was "jiu jitsu" bull is just that, bull. It was the beginning of the legacy that is now BJJ. The Gracies are the Bill Gates of BJJ. They aren't only great martial artist but also great promoters.

If Jake Shields has earned his black in BJJ and has then learned to incorporate his life long wrestling skills with that art and wishes to call it American Jiu Jitsu, who am I to argue with it? It is an art I am proud to be ranked under Jake in and I am proud to call it AJJ.
