I did injure my other knee, but after surgery I’ll make a full recovery in 6-9 months. I’ve gotten to where I am by overcoming obstacles...

...This will motivate me and I make this promise to my fans, mark my words, I will be champion again. I’ll be back stronger than ever.

"injury", wow.

eh, zee abilites to editing zee thread titles would benefits me greatly.

you have 3 minutes left to edit title

lol acually... TimetoCrush is correct

He was probably overcompensating from the injury on the other knee...pretty common occurence. He should have taken more time off from this previous injury, but then he would have been accused of "tucking" I'm sure.

He'll never be the same Phone Post

TimeToCrush - Thread title's fine if you read in GSP voice.

 lol

I would think this is what happened as well.

hopefully he didn't tear his other acl while typing that tweet.

wrestling can be BRUTAL on the knees, that is for sure...

Maybe, maybe not. ACL tears aren't as big as deal as they were even 10 years ago. A lot of times you can basically be back at 100% within 12 months.

Injuries piling up is tough on the body. At least GSP is the type of fighter to take recovery seriously.

Tried this before opening thread! Phone Post

This^.

That is why you take care of your knees 100%.

Make them legs strong and rest them when they need it. There is nothing wrong with over resting a sore knee and babying it back to normal.

I am 33 and wrestled from age 5 till my senior year and do not have knee issues because I have lived by this.

At practice last night our other coaches could not believe I have had no knee injuries as they all have to tape up and I go bare.

28yrs and no knee problems is SUPER impressive.

He'll be champion again? They aren't stripping him of his title.

It's a good mentality for him to have though. Phone Post

I think he knows it's the right thing to do, him saying that is pretty classy imo.

silly to tie the division up for at the very least a year...

I don't understand the tying up the division comments.

Does everyone stop fighting because GSP is out?

The sentiment seems to be that people don't like that there is no possibility of a new champion to be crowned in that time.. But if they strip the title, then whoever IS crowned champ is only getting it because the former champ is recovering from injury.

Do you think either Condit or Diaz want a belt under that circumstance?

As a fan, I would never consider that a real championship belt until the champ was back and fought again. Phone Post
