Guard on Asphalt

HonkeyStyle is on fire!

Untappable and ryan_lankford...I am not a troll and you know it.

wrekker...the Muay Thai elbow is good also, I think they stole it from Kenpo/Kempo, LOL.

Wreckker-

You are absolutely right in what you did. In fact I applaud how much self control you showed. These guys think they are some kind of capital punishment enforcers. They are there for our safety and comfort to stop drunken assholes starting fights with us. In my experience they are very much the protagonists.

As for the guy who said they get 6.85 an hour so no wonder they are like that, get a grip.

Security need a reality check. Whatever your sister was doing all he had to say 'Was excuse me could you please step closer in line, thanks'. Very simple vernacular that people providing a service use everyday. Instead the fat ape got raw. Very professional. They get off on self aggrandisement.

In saying that I am sure a lot of bouncers are professional - I just haven't met them.

Bouncers are a good reason to avoid going to the ground.  If you defend yourself from a patron, it would be a shame to have a bouncer soccer kick your head into the next county.

Gary Hughes

Judge: "Why did you break this man's arm?"

YourFather: "It was not my intention to do so. I wrapped my legs around him and grabbed his arm because I was afraid that he (points at bigger, larger bouncer) was going to hit me."

Untappable is correct-

i see no difference in me throwing an elbow with serious force and it being less effective than a well rounded MT guys elbow throw--- either way its not going to tickle --TRUSTT ME!

the Kenpo elbow and the MT elbow are very similar... it is the setups that make the execution of the technique different...

This thread has taught me the perfect self-defense tactic. Don't go to clubs/bars as there are idiots all over the place just itching to get inot a fight.

rna

There is technique involved in an elbow strike.  If you aren't using proper technique it will still hurt, but won't do as much damage.  I love elbow strikes, it's almost like hitting someone with a club.

SHUT THE FUCK UP!

I am not going to jail, I did not get hurt, I did not pull guard! The bouncer had no chance in hell of passing. I was passive after the first elbow cause he was not swinging, and I knew the less damage the less chance for trouble. I was protecting myself first.

The cop who wrote the ticket told me most of the time in a situation like this nothing happens because there aqre no real injuries.

I also have money so worst case I still don't go to jail.

I did fuck up that I should of gotten him to swing first. The truth is I went to the parking lot ahead of him and he approached me walking fast and got himslf into elbow range, si I had to defend myself at that point.

BOTTOM line: I was there, what is most important is to not get hurt and not get in trouble for hurting somebody else. The way things happened WILL keep me out of jail and I did not get hurt.

I was not attacked by 3 bouncers, so why would I go apeshit? If did throw more elbows and knees and knock the bouncer out then the other guys probably would jump in. So throw the kill or be killed argument out.

Also I rarely grapple in the street because its not a mat, and its easy for me to win satnding. But bjj is good for the street for alot of reasons, chokes and holding somebody in a sub leave no marks and cause no blood. Or you can debilitate someone if you have too.
To go aggressive striking coulkd of gotten me in trouble for sure and attacked by the other bouncers.

Use your heads kempo masters, armachair honkey's, and other guy's who just got so much BAD ADVICE.

Do not get hurt, do not get in trouble.

34 years old NEVER been seriously hurt, knocked out, or even had to see a doctor for a streetfight.

First time I have ever gotten a ticket for or fighting, never had legal trouble at all as adult.

The head bouncer also was goinmg to let me go in 5 minutes, just before the cops showed up cause he knew I was not a asshole and not much really happened.

I started this thread to show the good and bad points of bjj, how I had to make a decision in this fight to just protect myself so I could stay out of harms way and trouble.

Elbows ARE a bitch. If you're not too hyped on adrenaline, have you ever noticed the look on a guy's face when you land a solid one? They kinda' give you a look like "Hey!?... how come you get to use a baseball bat?".

Sam Pai - I took Kenpo when I was 9-10 years old, so I don't remember alot of it. Aren't Kenpo elbows thrown more from a tradtional punch base? Kind of like Jorge Rivera vs David (Loo-ah-zo..I can never spell that name right). In the first round, David landed those two elbows on the side of Rivera's head that cut him up. David would throw the right, but drop the hand and then elbow on the follow-through.

brianmeyers...Sam Pai Kenpo doesn't use traditional punches.  All strikes are thrown from your fighting stances.

Lol at all the legal experts on the og. If he was going to jail, do you think the police would have let him walk off with a ticket?

Wrekker was walking away from the bouncer, WHO FOLLOWED HIM OFF THE BARS PROPERTY. At best, he gets a fine for mutual combat, and he could probably sue the bar for not controlling their bouncers.

Not all of us can hit as hard as Mike Tyson, and not every fight ends with a clear victor.

Wreckker - You fight to pay bills, I don't, so this is by no means criticism towards you as a fighter. The only mistake I think you made was ending up in a parking lot with 3 bouncers. That has been said by others on here. I've worked in bars and clubs for almost 10 years, alot of those years as a bouncer.

First of all, whoever owns that club should've fired that bouncer as soon as he was done talking to the cops. He sounds like one of the Ron White bouncers who masterbates while watching "Road House". By no means am I defending that guy. When you called the guy a power-tripping pussy and all that, sounds like you hit the nail right on the head. It sounds like you put him in his place and he acknowledged that when he shut his mouth and could only give you a tough guy stare.

As a bouncer, I've been in that guy's position. Not unprofessional, and an outright dick like him. My situations have been with people who are too drunk to come in (a liability in Missouri), or people we have to escort out, etc. I stay professional. But every now and then, I get the guy who hates me because he can't come in/stay, and informs me he's going to kick my ass, or calls me this or that. Not at all to compare those people to you. You weren't drunk and being a prick. Your sister was being disrespected. 99% of the time I just laugh at the person, or invite them to walk back over and attempt to kick my ass if that's really what they want to do. But, a couple of times, fueled by alcohol, I've taken them up on it. You're gonna call me out? In front of my bar? In front of all these people? Oh hell no. Stupid of me. And my boss has reminded me of how stupid.

That bouncer was a pussy. Like I said, you stood up to him, and he shut up. But when you called him out to the parking lot in front of all those people, with him being so much bigger than you, he HAD to fight. Everyone would have thought he was a pussy the rest of the time he worked there.

Once again, not defending him. He fucked up in the first place. He is a pussy. He didn't fight you because he thought he was tough. He fought because he was too scared not to. I have a sister who I am the exact same way with. I'm usually a very level-minded guy, but if you fuck with my sister, I bring out a rage that I can't even comprehend. If a bull looks at my sister the wrong way, I'm having steak for dinner.

Much respect for standing up for her. I'm glad you didn't get hurt. Speaking from experience on behalf of myself and some of our staff, I wouldn't expect any real legal issues with this.

To some of you guys posting on this thread... god damn. The whole point of this thread is to say "You know, being on your back with a fat guy on top of you, shrtless, and on asphault kinda' sucks. Ever happen to you?" He never said that he was thinking "This guy's fat as fuck...I'm gonna put him in my guard!". Should have done this, should have done that...this would have worked, that didn't work... he walked away with a scratch on his back. Guess what? It worked. He gave the guy a fat lip with an elbow. That scared him enough to want to clinch. Guess what? It worked. BJJ and Kenpo living and working together in harmony. Beautiful thing, beautiful thing...

And for the record, the reason I only READ the forum for the last couple of years is because of people like YourFather. Sam Pai and alot of you other guys, I don't know how you've put up with that guy. It drove me insane just reading some of the stuff he'd say. His keyboard has to stink like hell with all the shit that pours off of his fingers.

Jusus Christ, that was a long post. Sorry.

Wekkler,

Take it easy… I didn’t mean to insult you; you always seem to come across on the forum as a cool guy… Also, said earlier that it is always easier to critique a situation after it’s over, hence your “arm chair honkey” comment…

I assumed you posted this story on a discussion forum so that people would discuss that particular situation. Maybe I was wrong… I was just giving my opinion on what happened and explained what I would have done differently… My goal was not to insult or question your technique or ability…

“But bjj is good for the street for alot of reasons, chokes and holding somebody in a sub leave no marks and cause no blood. But bjj is good for the street for alot of reasons, chokes and holding somebody in a sub leave no marks and cause no blood.” I don’t think anyone doubts this as a general rule. However, when discussing a specific incident people generally will have a variety of opinions, some correct and some incorrect…

“I started this thread to show the good and bad points of bjj, how I had to make a decision in this fight to just protect myself so I could stay out of harms way and trouble.” Isn’t that exactly what has happened?

Anyway, as stated before, I am glad that you and your sister escaped with only minor injuries…

Honkey “armchair” Style

Untappable...elbows from a child will hurt.  Elbows from a trained striker who gets his entire body behind it will hurt more and cause more damage.  I don't know why that is so hard to understand.

wreckker...I wasn't trying to criticize you either, you seem like a nice guy.  YourFather always brings out the best in me, LOL.  You probably shouldn't have fought unless you had to and if you hit someone, I wouldn't hit them easy, but that's just my opinion.  Your BJJ skills came in very handy that day for sure and I'm glad you didn't get hurt.  As I said before, it's easy to sit back at your keyboard and critique someone else.  I respect the fact that you stuck up for your sister.  It was a good thread and hopefully everyone will put themselves into this situation and think about how they would handle it.

Gary Hughes

Cool thread, interesting

The troll is weak in Untappable...

YourFather...based upon your logic, the bouncer would think about it even more if he had his jaw broken.  Kenpo serves the public also.

Gary Hughes

Wreckker (if you're even reading this thread anymore after all the shit that has surfaced), I have to ask a question? If you found yourself in the same situation again, would you handle it the same? Not involving your sister again, or anything like that. If you were about to get in a fight with a bouncer, he brings 2 other guys, you have no backup. If you don't back down, and you choose to fight, not knowing the intentions of the other bouncers, what do you do?

YourFather- If he answers that question, I'm willing to bet just about anything that his answer will have nothing to do with "I'm gonna take the biggest, fattest guy of the three, and I'm gonna' work my guard". Read his original post. When it looked like a 3-on-1, he threw an elbow. He didn't try a fuckin flying guard on the fattest guy in the parking lot. Did he have the skills when it did hit the ground? Yes. Was his BJJ effective in keeping him from getting hurt under all that weight, when it reached the point that he felt it would stay 1-on-1? Yes. Thank God. But if you ask him, and anyone else (except you, of course), they will most likely tell you that if it is a 3-on-1 situation, the last place they want to be is back down on a parking lot with a fat fuck on top of you.

Just once, ONCE, please just admit that BJJ is not always the most effective form of self defense in every single situation.
