has ian freeman lost respect?

Firstly i am a huge fan of the Machine. His bashing style is what drew me in mma in the first place.
I saw the recent thread ian started about Frank Mir and i noticed that alot of the community dissed him for it.
I was just wondering what others thought of this and has the Machine lost any respect because of his comments.
I didnt give a damm and am still a fan, the Machine is still cool as hell in my book. I just want to know where this leaves ian in the eyes of others

thanks guys

He never lied he just said what he thought y would you say he lied

He said some ignorant shit.

people have put way to much stock in his victory over mir

Nah not at all Ian beat the crap out of Mir fair and square I reckon he could do it again

john kerry, big fuckin deal! that was his night. I would be suprised if he could beat Wes simms! he is pulling a LOBER with this win imo

No fan of Mir, but as others said, the timing of that email was terrible. Mir just pulls off a huge victory in his career and deserves praise, and Ian comes out with this email seemingly designed to run Mir down. It was downright pathetic. Mir gave Freeman his only highlight in his career and NO, Ian would not do the same thing again.

fighting major is correct

fighting major is correct

john,
where the fuck in my post (that you have quoted) does it say that i think frank mir is undefeated and managed to submit wes simms? I should of been more clear perhaps, I only brought up wes simms because I think he is in the lower class of Ufc hws along side ian freeman. ian can be fun to watch, but the guy said some stupid shit!

P.S
i am not a big mir fan

Yes he lost some respect....he gained a lot in his humble speech after the Mir win, and had some added apathy because of his Father dying,,,,everything I had seen or heard from him previously showed some class on his part...his latest tirade against Mir did not...

The planets were aligned and he beat Mir originally at an opportune time...I WOULD PUT MONEY ON MIR WINNING A REMATCH....and in general I am an Ian Freeman fan... his showings against Arlovski and Tiger didn't impress...than again we now know Arlovski is the real deal...Ians best bet is to be humble and hope for a rematch...he is hoping for that and hanging his hat on using Internet hype to get another shot at Mir and more importantly a payday...

At the end of the day, what everyone has to remember is that Ian hasnt been treated very well by the UFC. Whilst Mir has been handled quite nicely (and lets be honest here, the quality of his opponents havnt been great apart from Sylvia who he beat fair and square) Ian has fallen by the wayside and why?

He beat Mir easily. That cannot be debated. What if has nothing to do with it. He won. Easy. Then, he was offered a VERY prestigous bout with Shamrock and was given Tiger White (a fighter who can give ANYONE nightmares) He drew. Yes, he HAS lost to Andrei Arlovski but I think so would (will) Mir.

Now, Mir is champ and Ian is kinda retired. Something doest add up there.

Mir got tank , Freeman was given Ken Shamrock (didn't happen, too bad).

Then Freeman got Arlovsky who was coming from a loss to Ricco and Rizzo, and wasn't considered to be that great at a time.

Mir got Simms who was just coming of a win over BJJ BB (Silvera).

I can't really see how Mir was treated better then Freeman. He certainly made more out of it, though.

First of I would like say sorry to anyone that felt offended to my earlier threads about Frank Mir.

My timing was, to say the least, VERY bad when I put that thread on here.

For one I am not a lier. At 37years old and have 24 fights under my belt, I am sure that if I were to be a lier, then I would been found out a long time before now.

I know what I was told on the night of my fight about Mir, some say it was never said or if it was said it was just to piss me off, of course piss me off it did.

My father had just passed away, I had just fought with Mir and someone tells me Mir is bad mouthing me. I think I would have believed anyone that night, never mind a known fighter that spoke to me.

In one sense I am pleased I wrote the thread as my anger is not 100% against Mir now, so it has let of some steam and worked in a little therapy.... still dont like the man but it's not mad hatred now. but in the other sense, i embarraced for writing such emotional crap.

Can anyone please show me where I challenge Mir for a rematch? It was not me shouting my mouth just to get noticed, why should I do that? I have a great TV career here in the UK and things are going real well for me. All I said was he could not sub me or ko me.

Once again I let my feeling show in words over the internet and feel a fool for doing so.

Frank Mir, well done on your championship win. As a fighter you are great, as a person we dont click and I think your an ass.

sorry to all others that may be offended.

Ian

Ian is cool as hell, great fighter. Don't sweat the emotions, it was genuine, regarding the loss of your dad.

Everyone has there opinion but i think Ian is cool as hell and has every right to have been pissed off that night. His father had just passed away and now then he hears a guy he just tooled was making comments? Everyone of us would have been pissed. As for the thread on here, yeah it was bad timing but he never asked for a rematch, he was just stating his opinion like we all do. Ian, you havea ton of respect from me and i look foward to seeing you back in the UFC. Good luck...

good post by ian

Ian seems like a pretty cool. I think his emotions were just boiling over at the time of that post.

Nice "kinda" apology. I had alot of respect for Ian before, but most of it is gone now.

Mir will not be a true champ. Never, mir sucks, Ian needs to beat the crap out of him again b/f Andre kills Queer daMir!
