- 2011: Fight of the Year (vs. Shogun Rua)
- 2011: Only human being to ever KO the great Fedor (1st round, no less)
- 2011: Strikeforce LHW Champion at 40 years old
- 16 of his 18 UFC opponents have been or are champions of a major MMA promotion.
- 2015: Two months before turning 45, demolished a #13 ranked MW in 28 seconds whom he was a 2 to 1 underdog against. Became the oldest fighter ever in the UFC to KO an opponent.
- 2016: This time two months before turning 46, delivered one of his most memorable finishes ever over Hector Lombard, a Bellator champ at one time, and a guy Dan was supposed to get annihilated by. Beats his own record above, and now closer to 50 than 40, again becomes the oldest fighter to ever KO an opponent in the UFC.
