Henry Akins East Coast Tour

gtownhoya -

Depends where you are starting and ending in NC and MD.  From Charlotte, NC to halfway between DC and Baltimore (in Maryland) is about a 6 hour drive.

No need to focus on the NE.  I grew up in MD; it's a horrible place.  Also, I have it on good authority that they hate jiu jitsu in Maryland.

I will also point out multiple responses in this thread from southeasterners, nada from the northeast.

Gtown- where do you train in Charleston? Phone Post 3.0

I'm a black belt and just spent 3 days learning from Henry Akins (I have a lot yet to go). If you are on the East Coast and do not jump on the chance to attend one of these seminars, you either do not care about real BJJ, or you are a complete idiot. Ok, that might be a little strong, but only a little. You should go.

edfyvie - How far is NC from Maryland? Driving time? Phone Post 3.0
Also BWI Airport (Baltimore Washington International) to CLT (Charlotte) is only about an hour flight and reasonably priced if BWI is your airport of origin. I've done that flight many times for under $200 round trip. Just throwing that out there... Phone Post 3.0

Were in PA will he be?

It is still up in the air, but it looks like he will be starting in Maryland, then Delaware, two stop in PA in Philly at Sion BJJ and Concordville PA. Then making his way north to Conn/Mass, then to NY. Maybe he would be interested in flying to Charlotte and then taking the brief flight to Maryland.

Would you guys cover that flight to Maryland for him? Phone Post 3.0

^ I think a Charlotte seminar is the best bet for a good group. If someone can offer up an academy and do the work of arranging the seminar, I will cover the other half of his flight (and hope that the seminar happens on a date I can attend). Phone Post 3.0

Where in MD?

I'd love the details on all of the mid-Atlantic seminars.

would attend in NYC- any idea where he would do a seminar here?

By NY, I think edfyvie meant upstate (Saratoga county), as that is where his school is.

I will, but it will probably not be until late Sunday. I am on my way to the coast to work an event and I usually can't get PM's to work from my phones browser Phone Post 3.0

Word on the street is we'll have him in CT on the 9th or 10th. Phone Post 3.0
