Here is the WADA prohibited list

http://list.wada-ama.org/prohibited-all-times/prohibited-substances/

You can look at the list or you can search by substance.

Any athlete who claims they "didn't know" a substance was banned is lying. Period.

You're getting tested randomly by USADA and you don't take 2 seconds to type in your "medication" in that search box, on your phone while waiting for the doctor to scribble out the prescription?

BULLSHIT.

"I don't believe she knew."

What if you are from a foriegn country, and English is not your first language?  Yet you are taking a supplement with english ingredients, but you speak German, or Portugese....so you go to the site, choose the language you speak, then what...you have to search and type in the spelling of each and every ingredient listed in a language that is foriegn to you onto a site that may be in a different language as well?

I'm not saying that is any excuse. Of course any athlete should be typing in the name of any prescribed drug they are taking.  But, I can certainly see how it could cause a problem for some athletes trying to search for medications and/or supplement ingredients in a different language.  I see how something could be innocently missed.  I don't think that just becuase there is a list available, any athlete caught and says they didn't know is instantly lying and a bullshitter.  Maybe they are.  But I also see how maybe there could be legit mistakes.

^^^ lol

How many ingredients do you think are in the prescription? It's not a box of Oreos with 90 ingredients. It's one active ingredient.

What are she and her team so busy doing every second of every day that they can't type it in?

There is ZERO excuse and any athlete saying they didn't know is lying. At best they are so unbelievably unprofessional that they have no business competing at this level. What else are they taking "without knowing"?

lol @ "she forwarded the prohibited list to her doctor". How about just look on the list yourself, which is alphabetized, and see that what he is prescribing is on it?

The most bullshit story in the history of bullshit stories.

Orcus, it's not as easy as you think.

The computer was always in use.

Those tweets about Ronda don't write themselves.

Very true.

Ray has time to make 50 troll posts on the UG a day but can't find the time to type in a substance his girlfriend -- whom he lives with -- has been prescribed to see if it's on the prohibited list, and doesn't even KNOW if she knew if it was banned or not.

Here's the site for Brazilian athletes to check which is in Portuguese. Took me 10 seconds of googling in english sooooo.....

http://www.consultealista.abcd.gov.br/

On a side note that brazilian banned list site sucks and MMA isn't even an option. However there is a handy english version, if only someone close to her knew how to speak it and was active in the online MMA community...

You shill fuck boys here sure think she speaks perfect English when she posts here

Dont include me in that.  I have no opinion on Cyborg and really could not possibly care less about her particular situation.  I don't even know what it is right now other than "possible violation".

I'm just pointing out that it is feasible, in my opinion, to understand that some non english speaking and reading athletes could have a difficult time cross referencing drugs accross the language barrier.  I don't agree that its just as simple as typing in words into a search box.  A simple mis-spelling can cause an issue.  Again, I agree 100% this is the athletes problem and responsibility.  But it's fair to play devil's advocate and see that simple mistakes can be made, and it doesn't necessarily make someone a liar or a dumbass.

I dont know that viagra is banned, though I suppose so.

But the reason people chewing random dick pills get popped is because they're usually tainted with something else since its shittier quality vendor.

Also is a standard excuse, not neccesarily the truth that both Anderson Silva and Jon Jones were out there eating random pills from friends, just a convenient excuse most likely.

Maybe if you mean for this thread to be about Cris Cyborg you should have included it in the thread title or even your first post.  I guess we've all now gathered that IS what (who) this thread about since she's just now immediately in the news.  That's her problem to deal with.  I'm not an advocate or hers, nor do I damn her.

I'm also not talking about just a single perscription.

Imagine wanting to take this supplement, not knowing english very well, and having to check if it's ok:

You guys can all go burn Cyborg at the stake if it pleases you.  Knock yourself out.  I have no deslire to defend her.  I just disagree with you saying "any athlete that says they don't know is a liar" when it can easily be missed due to mistakes, especially language barrier.

NO, that should not be a valid excuse for a positive test

No, that does not excuse an athlete from taking a banned substance

Yes, it might possibly explain that they are not liars.

You are comparing a supplement to a prescription drug. Prescription drugs don't have a laundry list of substances, they are typically ONE substance.

Even in your example, what is that, 90 seconds of looking on the prohibited list to see which of those are banned or not? Gee I guess these guys and their managers and coaches are all so busy every minute of every day that they can't do that. Gotta leave time to call people out on Twitter and troll on the UG.

As for the language issue, give me a break. First, Cyborg speaks English and so does Ray. Second, one click for "other languages", one click for "Portuguese", and there is the prohibited list.

Please stop making excuses for this nonsense. No one is that lazy or that stupid when there are millions of dollars on the line. They are trying to get away with using as much as they can and then pleading ignorance to reduce their sentence and keep their careers alive.

And what does not knowing English well have to do with that ingredient list? Those aren't "English" words, they're drug names. She doesn't speak great English, she's not a retard. If it's too hard for her then have someone on her team -- like her American boyfriend she lives with -- look the shit up.

Any ahlete unsure can contact USADA and ask. They can even send them a supplement for testing to be sure they don't break rules. Testing for a diaretic is ridiculous.

If you ask him he will tell you cyborg does her own posting on this site. I questioned it and he and sunkist explained how it was really her, even though her English isn't perfect.
