Holm: July too long to wait

<p>UFC President Dana White has said that he would like Holly Holm's first title defense to be at UFC 200 in a rematch with Ronda Rousey. Holm herself would rather take a fighter and explained her reasoning:</p>
UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm doesn’t care what opponent she faces in her first title defense. Of bigger concern is the amount of time she’ll have to wait to fight.
“The only thing about July is that it’s eight months away from my last fight,” she told MMAjunkie on Saturday. “That’s the biggest thing. I don’t like to wait that long.”
“I feel like a rematch is just the unspoken, yeah, that’s got to happen,” she told MMAjunkie. “A fight in between now and then, I feel like that’s like, yes, let’s stay active. There’s a lot of things that can be.
“In boxing, I did 10 years straight of having four fights a year, and so to weight eight months, it’s out of my norm.”
Agree with Holly and Tardiolli. Dana is only thinking of the UFC. She has the power to get what she wants though by threatening to retire. She shouldn't have to do that though.

Well, her trainers say she was sandbagging on those matches to give Ronda a false sense of where her skills were. At first I thought that was B.S. but maybe she was.

You think she should retire instead of collect the biggest payday of her career? She shouldn't risk the financial loss.

I disagree. I don't think Ronda will be ready by July and will get smoked again. Between the the facial damage she took, the movie obligations, the media obligations that egg will surely dump all over her, plus getting herself back into the shape she was in 2 years ago, I don't see how she gets ready.
He should let Holly defend the belt once. She is healthy and so is Miesha.
They don't need Ronda on the 200 card, there are plenty of intriguing matchups that will sell that card.
I really think the UFC is missing the boat with Holm.
It's obvious that they can make a tremendous amount of money with the rematch. So, I understand them not wanting to risk Holm being beaten by another fighter. I get that!
But, Holm looks nice when she is dolled up and people like her. Very humble, respectful and her interviews come off well. People like her!
Why do they refuse to promote and market her? Not saying there's an outright attempt to derail or discedit Holm but I have yet to hear them (Dana) give her legit props.
Maybe they start marketing Holm when the new year starts.
She could easily transition into a mainstream figure for the UFC.
