Holm: July too long to wait

springfield - Agree with Holly and Tardiolli. Dana is only thinking of the UFC. She has the power to get what she wants though by threatening to retire. She shouldn't have to do that though.

You think she should retire instead of collect the biggest payday of her career? She shouldn't risk the financial loss.
Yeah, she should stick around for a windfall of cash.... From the UFC.

I didn't say that. I said threaten to retire not retire.
All she would have to do is publicly state I'm retiring if the UFC doesn't let me fight before July and state her reasons why. The UFC would fold.

As Dana always says fighters only have a small window of opportunity, so lets shelf a healthy 34 year old champ for 8 months.

UFC is a joke sometimes.

Fabes - She shouldn't have to wait. Let Miesha fight her and Ronda can have the winner. It's better for Ronda if Miesha wins anyway. Phone Post 3.0

I think Miesha has a real shot against Holly, if Holly loses she misses the biggest payday of her career. She is getting bad business advice.

That's a dangerous game to play, if they don't fold Holly is retired with fights left on UFC contract, it's moronic.

How would that help Holly though? The UFC would just set up an intern belt. When Miesha threaten to retire Dana told her maybe she should. Phone Post 3.0

ILoveWatchingJonesBoneShogun - If she fights and loses, she will 2nd guess that request for the rest of her life

Let's not forget, she just beat a barely 500 fighter by split decision earlier in the year

Well, her trainers say she was sandbagging on those matches to give Ronda a false sense of where her skills were.  At first I thought that was B.S. but maybe she was.

Wow. Amazing if true.

I'm calling bullshit on that claim. Her coaches decided to risk a win (and subsequent title shot) by slow-playing Holly's abilities all the way to a split decision over Pennington just because someday she was going to fight Ronda? Phone Post 3.0

Boom, Miesha tells Dana he better change things or she will retire......Dana tells her go ahead. Funny we haven't heard from her since. In her defense she may be busy with Mr. Tate hiding under her tit though.

Holly is the undisputed champion who destroyed the former champion. Miesha has little leverage and Holly has all the leverage in the world. Holly's not going to give the UFC ultimatum but if she did she would win.

Then she should give it a shot. Let's be clear though, I think she should do what she wants, I just think it's a mistake to fight before the rematch. I am always on the fighters side.

While I do agree with Holly about not wanting to wait until July for a fight, no fighter is above the promotion including Rousey. Phone Post 3.0

I like how so many people support fighters to go against the wishes of the UFC as if it's different from publicly criticizing your employer in any other job. I also like how MMA fans think the UFC is some sort of non-profit organization and should act accordingly.

Why would they reward Meisha for criticizing the company? Why would they want to hold a fight that nobody cares about and they make no money on when they could hold one that makes them buckets of money. It also jeopardizes the money fight.

Carogan - You guys have no clue.

What Holly is doing right now is negotiating for the biggest payday she can get in a rematch with Ronda. She's not stupid - there is absolutely no way on earth that she is going to risk losing in a fight before a Ronday rematch.

The pay day for the 2nd fight will likely be more than all of her future fights combined.

What's good for the UFC is also good for Holly. They are looking to maximize their income just as much as she is. But Holly needs to use leverage to give the UFC reasons to pay her more - the threat of taking an earlier fight is certainly one way of doing it, just as well as threatening to turn down a Ronda fight/retiring is another way.

She has one chance to get the Ronda rematch right. She'd be stupid to do anything other than maximize her earnings for it.

I don't buy her coaches bs about downplaying her abilities in the fights leading up to Ronda. I don't think that Holly is that much better than Cat or Miesha, I think that she just happens to be incredibly strong in the exact same spots where Ronda is really weak. So I'm not sure that Ronda can ever beat her, but I think that both Cat and Miesha have legit shots.

The last thing Holly wants is to gamble witg a payday of this magnitude. Phone Post 3.0

I wouldn't mind Holm Zingano. I think Zingano had a legit shot at Rousey and just got stupid. There are questions similar to McGregor Aldo, because it ended so quick. I think it's a good matchup because either winning sets up a good fight for Rousey regardless of how it starts out.

she should just have a baby now

Let her smash Miesha. Fucking criminal to not let a 34 year old world champion make the money she can, while she can. Phone Post 3.0
