Cleanly, like case in point, Wonderboy put on a shit load of muscle for the Till fight. I'm not saying he's not a cheater, but it seems unlikely he's using atm. How the fuck did he do it?
Im only using him as an example, but how in the fuck do guys out on so much weight during fight camps? Or even in the off season when they're training so often nearly every day?
If you're seriously dedicated to putting on size, track your calories for a week to get your average daily intake. Then, keep adding calories to that total until you start putting on weight.
The best phrase Ive heard regarding people who claim they can't gain weight is that they are bad at math. Just keep steadily adding caloires until you start to gain weight. Then keep that amount steady until you stop gaining weight. Then up the calories again. This is one of the more effective ways to do it, without having the fat gain far outpace the muscle gain. You will gain both, but be smart about it and you'll not blow up.

Yeah dude I don't want stretch marks, I just want to be lean like Wonderboy.
Im pretty much built exactly like him height size, around high 170s, what should my caloric surplus be limited to if I didn't want to get fat or fuck up my skin?
You're not eating enough. I used to be a gym rat and to gain mass I had to force feed myself rice and chicken, cans of tuna and rice, etc every few hours.

I don't know. Maybe 300-500 surplus per day. But like I said, you have to actually know what your current BMR is and most people don't know and you also have to ACTUALLY consume that surplus, which many people can't seem to do.
So finding out what you actually take in and they making sure you actually exceed that by 300-500 calories per day is the biggest struggle.
i think what you are noticing from wonderboy was simply he was right on target. I think when he fought woodley he got bigger in camp and tried cutting it away and it didnt work out for him. With Till I think he wanted to have the speed advantage and forgoed the weight cut for proper dieting, as he didnt feel he would need the added weight/strength for grappling like he did woodley.
He may have put on some weight, but I think its the fact that he wasnt cutting as much water.
Dude I eat a fuck load and while I look good, I'm certainly not looking as massive as Darren Till for example.
What are your tips on taking in more calories? Fwiw, I train anywhere from 2-3 hours on a given day around 4-5x a week.
I think by training 2-3 hours, 4x a week you are just eating through calories and muscle. I think if you want to build size, you need to shorten workouts. There is no reason to train that many hours a day, especially if you want to put on size.
I would suggest eating, lowering the time spent working out (so you are not spending all those calories). Instead, go lift heavy weight until exhaution then move on. Break down the muscles so they can grow bigger. 3 sets, heavy weight, then move on.
You can't work out 4 hours a day and then wonder why you are no putting on size. You are buring too many calories.
With that said, comparing yourself and trying to achieve the look of an elite athlete might just be too unrealistic, especially since it is clear that so many of them are using PEDs. You might be chasing something you cannot obtain naturally.
I have put on roughly 30 pounds of muscle in the past 5 years. thats 6 pounds a year or 0.5 pounds a month. I am natty. I attribute it to diet and consistency.
- why are u training 2-3 hrs a day. If u are doing weight training, stick to 45-60min max for best gains (especially since u claim to be natty)
- keep cardio for another day if possible
- how to work out how much calories yiu should be consuming/ maintainence phase
simply multiply your weight by 13 ie 170lbs x 13 = 2,200 calories per day
now if u wanted to bulk- a 500cal surplus is good (this is where so many people go wrong). The ‘eat big train big’ only applies to those juicing. U simply can’t make use of all that food and expect it to turn to muscle
if u wanted to cut, aim to lose 2lbs per week. Cutting too much results in muscle loss
