Sean McCorkle - Until the UFC has a complete monopoly on the industry and there literally is no other option
you sir...are sad. with all due respect I don't think there's another fighter in this forum that matches your level of eagerness to suck up to the UFC.
"complete monopoly"? LMAO
and if you were getting paid so great with struve, you sure didn't show it, it's almost like you didn't quite know what you wanted in that fight, like they made a phone call to you and told you that they would halve your pay and then proceeded to cut off your balls. you wore a girly wig to the weigh ins for crying out loud.
do you really know what goes on with other fighters pay negotiations with the UFC? in particular those on the prelims?
Loser pessimist worrying about what everyone else is doing.
Sean brings up something that a lot of people are leaving out of fighter pay is sponsorship money which represents a decent percentage of fighter's income...I guess Tapout should be investigated as well

Fedors Jim Jams -
BrunoMcGyver - Great thread Mr McCorkle, gives a bit of direct insight into the whole issue even though it's not really any of our business. Good on you for explaining things a bit and giving the fans hat they want to know.

I know this question is a bit off-topic, so I'm not expecting an answer here, but you said in your OP that you've had successful businesses and once employed 130 people. I would like to ask if you had any tips on how to build a successful business. I'm not intending to start one in the near future, but maybe in a few years time if I have the funds.

im also wondering about your 130 employee business. what was this business? how long was it run, etc. i dont understand why somone would be a professional fighter when has a successful business... let alone one that employes 130 people. many successful business employ less than a tenth of that... and imho would be a better career choice.

Maybe he loves the sport and wanted to see how far he could go with it?
Master P's been a multi millionaire for years and it was only a couple years ago that he was playing in the nba summer league trying to get an nba contract.
a) Anything you say in regards to Zuffa is tainted because you want to be employed by them in the future.
b) If the numbers you are reporting are true why didn't Lorenzo just say, "Oh those $6k numbers are just a base. Our guys are making a minimum of X and I can prove it." He would have ended all conversations on the subject and I don't think ESPN would have even aired the special...
So basically you will never believe any fighter that says anything positive about Zuffa, but you will automatically believe any fighter that says anything negative about them.
OblongBox - what is the name of your business where you had 130 employees?
He has talked about it in interviews and in here before. iirc it was a recycling business and I want to say he ended up getting rid of it or something due to a divorce. I'm not sure I recall it correctly but I am sure you can find it on here or google

Fuck you must be hard to please mate. An honest opinion from a person who has been directly involved with the whole situation (being pay) and you're discrediting it?
Thanks for the post. Very interesting. Bear in mind his numbers do not apply tomost fighters. Mccorkle had way morepress/fan attention thn his record would warrant. Glad to hear ou cashed in on that, hope you make it back!
Unions have a bad rep in the US because of the history of mob influence. As a Norwegian, I can assure you, that is purely a US phrnomenon. Ican understand t though. It's never good when crime aquires influence in society. Look at mexico...
When I hear employers talk about unions as a bad thing though, it's bizarre to me. I picture the wife who's husband has just beating her explaining to the cops how 'he's a good man."
Of course, Mccorkle is not working class, he says himself he once had 130 employees, so he's actually the husband in this scenario. The roles are being thoroughly mixed.
It's not for the wealthy to dissuade employees from unionizing. That's 100% the decicion of the eployees, and a fully legitimate atttempt from their side to use eachother as leverage to prevent their individual members from unfair treatment by an employer with enormouly mismatched power one on one.
Can you give us an idea about the other side of the equation: how much do you pay out for things like managers/agents, medical testing, licensing, taxes, training partners, etc.
