Don’t forget Al went 5 rounds with khabib short notice and did well. Barboza survived all rounds in bad positions getting hit and khabib couldn’t finish him. Not even mentioning the tibeau fight

He will not want to be taken down and kept there. His striking will therefore be compromised. Not sure why that’s not obvious. The people Charles beat are incomparable in top game. Khabib’s last 3 fights were Justin/Dustin/Conor. These are great strikers and all have given/would give Charles knockdowns but don’t have Khabib’s ground intimidation. Conor is miles ahead of Charles striking and would only be at risk due to his fear of the ground game.

Charles’ striking will be just as compromised as Justin/Dustin/Conor/RDA/Johnson/Barboza etc. It’s not like he will magically embrace getting raped to hope for a hail Mary Sub.

The irony of most of the nonsense posts is people think Charles will charge with no fear, but in reality it’ll be Khabib stalking him with no fear because Charles will have to be cautious. This is the major flaw that is being missed. Just a complete opposite of what’s being said

Also a short notice Al fight isn’t an issue. Anyone decent (which Al is) who adopts a negative strategy can survive and lose on points.

Charles puts people on the back foot. Khabib has no back foot. It’ll be Charles retreating and fighting a different game. Charles has no interest in getting grabbed so will not want to clinch which is where he does great work.

Obviously Charles has never faced anyone with a top game like Khabib’s. Just as Khabib has never faced anyone with Olivera’s combination of striking and BJJ. That’s what makes the matchup so interesting.

Khabib’s most notable opponents were great strikers but their grappling wasn’t at that same high level.

Mauling Conor on the ground isn’t the same thing as mauling Charles on the ground.
