I figured out what's killing interest in the UFC

These undercards.

Start that shit at 9. Let the KOTC level guys, newcomers and prospects fight for the paying fans in the arena.

It makes the UFC look too common. Like the same kind of cheap, bad MMA you see from other promotions.

Knock that shit off.

Show us the good stuff.

I don't even watch fights anymore, just got boring. Phone Post 3.0

The brand is being devalued, its like in the uk tapout start selling their clothes at sports direct which is the place all the Scruffs go to buy their track suits, you can get tapout t-shirts there for £4.99.

Most people wouldn't wear tapout anyway because of the douche factor but now all the council estates are full of tapout wearing chavs, I thought it was a strange decision because it's destroyed the brand name.

The UFC's business model at the minute reminds me of this, compared to the glory cards which seem to have this quality atmosphere about them.

Were in danger of the sport going backwards in terms of convincing people that mma fighters are as skilled and as high quality of their counterparts in boxing, the UFC must know this but it's going ahead anyway, I just hope they know what they are doing because I loved the UFC and mma in general and want to see it succeed, I just hope the sport isn't being sacrificed to turn a profit. TryhardNobody - The judging is killing it for me. When a fight goes to the scorecards i have zero faith the right guy is gona win even in clear cut cases

That first fight on the main card, with Ellenberger.  As soon as they said one judge's score I knew they were giving it to him.

It's laughable and I'm thankful I don't care anymore.

Logic MMA -

The diluted cards are killing it for me. I used to not miss a fight.

I only watched like 3 or 4 fights yesterday, and I was doing other stuff on the computer and phone the whole time. Hell I stopped watching the cub vs Stephens fight halfway through and got on here afterwards to see who won.

It makes me sad too because I love MMA, or I used to I guess.

Same here. I FF most of it. Watched 3 rounds of the main event and was like...Cub's gonna squeak this out. Fuck it, FF and Cub squeaked it out.

For me it's the lack of built of fighters.. Aka uninteresting fights. I also don't enjoy most fights under 155. We try to avoid the undercards as well because we're black out wasted by the time the main card starts.... I just don't understand why the big names aren't fighting more often. It's more cash for all when/ if they do.

The cards this week were shameful. Yes the main event last night was a barn burner but that's the best they can do? I didn't
know a fighters name until the last two fights. How does that happen when they have so many badasses signed? Phone Post 3.0

This weekend had two cards and I only cared about the main event in each. Next weekend has two cards and I only care about the main event in each.

No way am I blocking off an evening or getting out the wallet for 5-25 minutes at 12.30am. Especially since even that one fight could well end up a stinker.

Shit's getting boring like golfing.

Premlims are burning motherfucers out

I remember being so excited when the prelims started to be broadcast...

For me it is Dana White forcing these watered down cards. Even if the fights end up being good, it is the line up, the build up and the excitement before the fights that get people to buy PPV. The cards and fights used to be so much better and exciting back in the day. Don't get me wrong I watch every event but as I live in the UK and it is on at 3am..... I have recently found myself choosing to go to sleep and watching it when I wake up in the morning. However, I am definitely not sleeping for Machida vs Weidman!!!!!!!!!
Also they need to stop with Champions being Ultimate Fighter coaches. Pettis and Velasquez are 2 of the most exciting fighters and they are tied up in TUF. Phone Post 3.0

Yep. I was going to just watch main event. I tuned in at 9 and fell asleep before came on. It really is a great cure for insomnia though. Put my girlfriend and 2 buddies of mine sound asleep within an hour or so. Phone Post 3.0

Here's the answer: For as vehemently as Dana denied that the UFC was going to be anything like Boxing, it is now EXACTLY like Boxing, in both watered down talent and time it takes to get to a main event.

Boxing has been at this for a hundred years, apparently the UFC just figured out how they turn a profit by oversaturing cans to the fanbase.

I'm on the same boat with losing interest in this sport. I never missed a fight, even if it was undercard. Now I barely make myself watch the main card of a PPV and maybe a main event of these smaller cards. And I don't even have to pay for the PPV's (besides buying a cable channel package).

:(

It's just a lot of minor league cards building up to the main cards.

Dana has to go, and I like Dana, but he's become the biggest star. All the Star power is gone these days.

It's a new formula, fight night with 2 b level name guys, v log with the bald father showing what a boss he is, lots of commercials for the next title PPV.

It's very stale and boring and there are no stacked cards. Still lots of great fights though, just with names that aren't big.

Plus I'm just older and don't care at 36 like I did at 26. Phone Post 3.0

I have been watching since UFC 2. It has definitely lost its magic for me. I will tune in for the big fights, but they seem to be getting fewer and far between.

Unfortunately, I am content with looking at the results on the UG the next morning for the majority of the fights.

With that being said, if it is a JDS, Cain or Belfort fight etc... I get pumped just like the old days.

Hard to care when there's 100000 fights and you you only know 4 guys on the card. Phone Post 3.0

The only... And I mean ONLY way to make these turds fun now is to bet on em. I won a 6 fight parlay and was on the edge of my seat all night! You don't have to get crazy... Make an account if you don't have one (not you BL I know you already know this), throw down a 5 or 10 dollar parlay and thank me later. It changes everything... Even the wondering what shitty decision will come down. You've always got a shot thanks to the refs and judges! I won because of Diego Sanchez and L'dMAO... Then lost a small one because of Bedford last night and was pissed! lol either way it's exciting and DEFINITELY worth the few bucks

We're longtime fans so a lot of the newness and excitement is gone.  The sport has gone mainstream like we all wanted and taslked about in the past.  We wanted fighters to get paid more and top guys to be comparitive to other sports.  Wanted athletes who would focus on other sports to consider entering MMA.  Wanted UFC on regular tv and covered by espn.  Wanted the public to get onboard and realize the excitement of MMA.  We got it.  The problem is nobody considers the negative consequences that come with going mainstream.  You've seen it in other walks of life.  Be it comic books and comic cons where the casual fan can no longer afford to go while hollywood has turned it into an advertising and marketing tool for movies and tv shows.  Skateboarding where it used to be an underground thing and now xgames and corporate money has changed the whole scene.  In music where bands you liked that were unknown and underground grew and "sold out" totally changing and focusing on appealing to the masses while losing that spark and edginess that made them special in the first place.  Going mainstream comes at a price.

With mma it's now more about the money.  An influx of fighters who may not be high quality.  Growing pains as these fighters develop in front of you instead of behind the scenes like before.  GSP came up in UCC and TKO before we saw him in the UFC, but nowadays he would have been on the radar earlier and expectatiosn would be different. There are more cards to satisfy tv, ppv and growth of sport which means the frequency of known fighters filling cards has gone down.  More lower level fighters put on the show quicker so impatience with their development has gone up.  Not to mention shady agents, managers, carpet baggers and opportunists coming in the sport just because they smell money and opportunity.  The edginess of MMA is gone with rules and commercialization changing what MMA and true Vale Tudo used to be.  It's just the price that we've paid.  We wanted this for the benfits, but did not consider the price to be paid.

As i've said before, be careful what you wish for, you just may get it.

Dana has lost contact with the fans and what they want. Now hell tells fans what they should be fans of, or says don't watch.

Fans have responded Dana. Now a 200K PPV is far for the course.

If you don't like 135 guys fighting, and WMMA, then you're not a true fan.

That's not how you make customers happy. That's how you send hardcore fans that supported your organization through the tough times, packing. Like the Tuf 1 fans.

Back in the day, I had a family room full of friends that I talked into coming over for PPV's. I made them fans with my passion for the sport. No way would I even try nowadays, with 135 pounds guys or women headlining.

I'd make a fool out of myself, and my friends would be pissed at me for taking up their Sat night.

I truly wish it was different, but that's the truth.

If you can expand in Mexico, India, and China with your even lighter weight-classes (115), you'll still be making money, as long as the growth is faster than hardcore fans bailing, but doesn't a 150K PPV tell you anything?
